Living with HIV does not define your worth, your future, or your strength. HIV is a health condition—not a life sentence. With proper treatment and care, people living with HIV can live long, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
💡 Remember:
Knowing your status is an act of courage.
Taking your medication daily is an act of self-love.
Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U). Treatment protects you and others.
🤝 To everyone:
Stigma hurts more than the virus. Choose kindness, understanding, and accurate information. Support saves lives.
Good morning let's fight hiv new infection together
HIV is not spread by love, sharing food, hugging, or shaking hands.
It is spread through specific body fluids—and it can be prevented, tested, and treated.
👉 Get tested regularly.
👉 Take ARVs correctly—U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable).
👉 Use protection and know your status.
👉 Support, don’t stigmatize—stigma kills faster than the virus.
Living with HIV is not a death sentence. Ignorance and stigma are.
Choose knowledge. Choose compassion. Choose life.

HIV stigma refers to negative attitudes, beliefs, and actions directed at people living with or associated with HIV. It is a social problem, not a medical one, and it significantly worsens health and quality of life.
Forms of HIV stigma
Social stigma: Gossip, isolation, rejection by family or community.
Self-stigma: Internalized shame or guilt by a person living with HIV.
Institutional stigma: Discrimination in healthcare, workplaces, schools, or churches.
Language stigma: Use of insulting, blaming, or dehumanizing terms.
Causes
Lack of accurate knowledge about HIV transmission.
Fear of infection due to myths and misinformation.
Moral judgments linking HIV to “bad behavior.”
Cultural and religious misconceptions.
Effects
Delays in HIV testing and treatment.
Poor adherence to ART due to fear of disclosure.
Mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.
Increased HIV transmission at community level.
How to reduce HIV stigma
Education: Promote accurate information—HIV is not spread by casual contact.
Respectful language: Avoid blame and labeling.
Confidentiality: Protect people’s health information.
Support: Encourage inclusion and peer support for people living with HIV.
Role models: Public figures and leaders speaking openly reduce fear.
Key fact
A person on effective ART with an undetectable viral load cannot transmit HIV sexually (U=U).
We are ready to fight against stigmatisation and new infection

In 2020 ,I took a courageous step and publicly disclosed my HIV status. At the time, I felt isolated and alone, but I soon discovered I wasn't alone when I disclosed my status a lot of young people reached out and shared their journey with me .. it was a relief to know I wasn't alone. The "No Shame about being HIV positive" campaign inspired me to share my journey and I am grateful for the young people who boldly share their HIV journeys!
I am proud to be part of a community that raises awareness, reduces stigma, and supports one another!
If you're living with HIV or know someone who is, remember: youbare not alone! There are a lot of people, friends and family who care. Please do reach out 🌻💚
Thumbs up to all young people who have gone public with their HIV status. ❤️
