South Korea isn’t just about K-pop and skincare — it’s also one of the world’s biggest hotspots for cosmetic surgery. People fly in from China, Japan, and all over the world for nose jobs, jawline work, eye surgery… the glow-up can be so dramatic that, well, their passport photo looks like a different person.

And that’s where things get awkward. At immigration, officers sometimes can’t match the new face to the old photo, so travelers get stuck in extra checks and questioning.

To avoid that mess, many Korean clinics now give patients a special medical certificate explaining what procedures they had. You just show it with your passport, and it helps prove you’re really you.
