The above patient is my patient currently on admission for radiation facial burns injury that completely charred the right ear. This is a consequence of electromagnetic radiation from handset phone. She slept of while using a phone hooked to her right ear. We presume that the phone got heated up and exploded on her ear and extended to the right half of her face and right eyes.
The warning for all of us is that handset phones are beneficial but are also hazardous to our health.
Once you are done using the phone, you don't need to endanger your life going to bed still listening to the phone directly at close range.
Most of our wards are guilty of this practice. Let the message go viral.
God bless you as you Share.
Dr John Emmanuel.

Liver failure is a situation where your liver suddenly or gradually shuts down, due to irreparable damages.
When a liver failure happens suddenly, it is called acute liver failure.
In a few months, weeks, and even days, acute liver failure can be fatal.
When the failure is gradual, it is termed chronic liver failure.
This type of liver failure can take several months to years to cause a fatal effect.
The liver has over 500 functions in your body which includes;
-drug metabolism
-Detoxification to remove toxins
-Cholesterol and bile production
-production of clotting factors and proteins
-Enzyme activation
-Nutrient metabolism and storage
-etc
When a liver fails, these functions and many others are not achieved as required.
What is challenging is that the signs and symptoms of liver failure are not specific to the liver.
They are common in other health conditions.👇👇
🍭WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?
-Abdominal pain: especially at the right upper quadrant
-Itchy skin without obvious rash
-Yellowish bump of fat on your skin
-Dark-colored urine and stool
-Jaundice
-Weightloss
-bruising and bleeding easily
-Unpleasant smelly breath
-Difficulty digesting food, especially fats.
-Loss of appetite
-visible spider-looking blood vessels on your skin
-Ascites and edema
👇👇
🍭WHAT ARE THE CAUSES
Acute Form;
-Drug overuse and abuse; a typical example is paracetamol
-Viral infections; Hepatitis A, B, D and E
-Genetic disorder; Autoimmune diseases like Wilson disease.
Pregnancy complications
-Other factors like septic shock and heatstroke can pose a risk of liver failure, mushroom poisoning, and metastatic cancer, especially the acute form
Chronic Form;
-Chronic and heavy alcohol use
-Chronic viral infections like hepatitis B and C
-Autoimmune disease
-Cardiovascular diseases like right-sided heart failure
-Genetic metabolic disorders
-Bile duct obstruction.👇👇
🍭COMPLICATIONS
-Enlarged and overreactive spleen
-Chronic kidney disease
-Gastrointestinal bleeding
-Hepatopulmonary syndrome; this can lead to low oxygen levels
Build up of fluid like Ascites, edema
-Malabsorption of nutrition leading to malnutrition
-Weak immunity
🍭DIAGNOSIS
-Blood test; Liver function test
-Imaging; to show signs of swelling and scarring, as well as fluid build-up in the stomach.
-Liver biopsy
🍭AVAILABLE TREATMENT
The treatment usually involves preventing or managing complications, eliminating the root cause if it's possible, and liver transplantation.
It involves;
-Regular monitoring
-Use of antibiotic and antiviral medications based on the causes
-Blood transfusion
-Oxygen therapy
-Medications for handling internal bleeding and enabling better blood flow.
-Immunosuppressants for autoimmune diseases
🍭PREVENTION
-Good hygiene
-Food safety practices to avoid food poisoning
-Safe sexual activities; use condoms and maintain one sexual partner
-Avoid alcohol overuse
-Get Vaccinated for viral infections
Avoid self-medications and overuse/ abuse of medications
-Practice regular checkups during pregnancy and every other time.
Minimize exposure to toxins and toxicants; chemicals used for cleaning, fungicides, insecticides, paints, etc.
-Seek help immediately you notice symptoms; do that in the right place

Old Croghan Man — a preserved human body over 2,000 years old!!
This is a well preserved human torso of an Irish man from the Iron Age, held at the National Museum of Ireland.
The body was found in an Irish bog (likely once a lake) in 2003 at the foot of an ancient hill that was used for kingship ceremonies.
It was naturally mummified, and preserved well enough to maintain most of its properties. After analyzing his stomach, it is believed that his last meal was wheat and buttermilk, along with a meat rich diet 4 months prior to his death.
Calculated based on his arm span, he would have stood 6 ft 6 inches (1.98 m) tall , which is considered to be exceptionally tall for the period when he lived.
Old Croghan Man is believed to have died between 362 BC and 175 BC, making the body over 2,000 years old. Evidence indicates that the man was in his early twenties when he was killed.👇👇
The body was naked except for a plaited leather band around his left arm. This likely indicated high status.
A 2014 documentary suggested that the man was once a king and was sacrificed by Druids due to poor weather or harvests. These ancient tribes may have believed that this was caused by the failure of the king and he was responsible.
The man is believed to have died from a stab wound to the chest. He had been decapitated and had his body cut in half. He also has an injury to one arm, possible evidence that he tried to defend himself.
Scars on his lungs suggest he may have suffered from pleurisy — inflammation of the sheet-like layers that cover the lungs (the pleura).

Heart shaped heart!! ♥️
No matter how hard you work, there is something inside of you that works even harder!
Sometimes having a heart as big as this means having a hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in medical terms!
This is a condition in which the heart muscle becomes thick, especially of the ventricles (lower heart chambers), which is seen very clearly in this picture.
The average left ventricular wall thickness in normal adults is 1.1 cm, but there are exceptions. Trained athletes have hearts that have left ventricular mass up to 60% greater than untrained subjects, with an average left ventricular wall thickness of 1.3 cm.
The most common cause is hypertension. As many as 1/3 of patients show left ventricular hypertrophy of any degree along with hypertension.👇👇👇
Symptoms include dyspnea (shortness of breath) due to stiffening and decreased blood filling of the ventricles, exertional chest pain (angina) due to reduced or restricted blood flow to the coronary arteries, uncomfortable awareness of a fluttering or pounding heart beat (palpitations) due to the ischemia to the heart muscle, disruption of the electrical system running through the abnormal heart muscle, lightheadedness, fatigue, fainting (called syncope) and sudden cardiac death.
Treatment depends on the cause. Athletic hypertrophy does not require any treatment, they’re simply advised to stop exercising for a few months to measure their left ventricle again. Hypertensive LVH is treated by controlling the blood pressure with medications and lifestyle changes.
