Cervical cancer awareness
I was helping a junior colleague with her research on cervical cancer and the mortality rate I saw shocked me 😢.
Guys, women are dying every single day from a preventable sickness.
Early detection and HPV vaccination can save lives, but many don’t get screened or vaccinated because they don't know.
Look at what I saw:
Cervical cancer is now the second most common cancer among women in Nigeria — right after breast cancer — and sadly one of the leading causes of cancer deaths in women aged 15–44. Every year, about 12,000 Nigerian women are diagnosed, and nearly 8,000 lose their lives to this disease 😔. That’s roughly 38 new cases and 22 deaths every single day 😢.
Let me educate you small.
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers. Early detection and prevention can save lives — through:
🌼 HPV vaccination for girls (ideally before age 15)
🌼 Routine screening (Pap smear or HPV tests)
🌼 Early treatment of precancerous changes
HPV — the virus that causes most cervical cancers — is common, but vaccination protects we women. Early screening catches changes before they turn into cancer.
The question now is where can one get the vaccine or screening?
Go to any teaching hospital in your state, ask a nurse there, if they don't have the unit inside the hospital, beg her to direct you to a place you can get it
Don't let a preventable sickness kịll you.

Have you heard of hypochondriasis?
Okay wait; do you know anyone that is always sick but tells people " I've gone to the hospital but they didn't find anything "
Let me break it down with a real life story that will help you understand it better. 🤔
A young mother visited our hospital a few weeks ago, saying, “Nurse, I feel like I’m dying.”
Her baby was still very small. She complained of chest discomfort, body weakness, tingling sensations, and sudden waves of fear that came from nowhere. Unfortunately, she had searched her symptoms online and had already convinced herself she had a deadly illness.😭💔. DO NOT SEARCH YOUR SYMPTOMS ONLINE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DIE OF HEART ATTACK.
I took her vitals before directing her to the consultation room. Her vital signs were normal. Doctor ordered some laboratory examination. Her tests came back fine. Medically, there was no evidence of the terrible disease she feared.
But she still cried.
“But I don’t feel okay.”
That was when the picture became clearer to everyone.
To avoid long story, what she was experiencing was consistent with hypochondriasis (illness anxiety disorder) — a condition where a person becomes excessively worried about having a serious illness, even when medical examinations repeatedly show nothing dangerous.
This is not pretense. It is not attention seeking. Anxiety can create very real physical symptoms: palpitations, dizziness, chest tightness, numbness, stomach upset, shortness of breath. The suffering is real, even when organs are healthy.
For her, every normal body sensation felt like a death sentence.
The body was not failing her.
Fear was.
She didn’t need more scans.
She needed understanding, reassurance, and mental health support.
Warning: do not Google your symptoms when you're sick.
Do not seek medical advice from people that may raise your anxiety with stuff like " na this kind sickness you dey suffer kịll my grandmother's sister's brother."
Stay healthy.

Let us Dicuss Erectile dysfunction.
Some months ago, a middle-aged man brought his sick mother to the hospital. He was calm, joking with us (the nurses).
While waiting for their turn to see the doctor, he walked up to me and quietly said, “Nurse, I brought my mother because she is sick. But me too, something is wrong.”
Then he added , in a very calm voice,
“I love my wife so much but the marriage is failing; my body is no longer responding the way it used to.” He smiled… but his eyes were sad.
Well, it was a long conversation with him but thank God he adhered to my advice and he's testifying to the outcome so far. "Ya na Nwunye ya na apiazi ọkụ."🤦🤦♀️🏃➡️
That conversation is why I’m writing this.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability to get or maintain an er****on firm enough for sěx. ( Amụkwụrụ ọtọ ọda)
It is not a curse, not weakness, and not always old age.
It is often linked to conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, stress, hormonal imbalance, smoking, alcohol, and some medications.
Sometimes, it is the first warning sign that something else is wrong in the body.
However, the good news is: erectile dysfunction is treatable, especially when help is sought early.
A message to men
You are not less of a man because of ED.
You are wise when you seek medical help instead of suffering in silence.
There's nothing to be ashamed of when you're having erectile dysfunction. Your information and treatment is confidential.

Our body actually whispers before it screams.
Many serious illnesses don’t start loudly. Just obere obere.
Serious illnesses usually start with small things we often ignore:
– Constant tiredness
– Frequent headaches
– Stomach discomfort
– Bad sleep
– Loss of appetite
– Body pains that “come and go”
We swallow painkillers, drink agbo, pray, and move on.
But the truth is:
Our bodies always warn us before it breaks down.
That mild stomach pain you keep managing could be ulcer.
That constant thirst and frequent urination could be diabetes.
That waist pain and fever you call “malaria” could be infection.
That dizziness you ignore could be low blood level.
Good health is not only about treating sickness.
It is about listening early.
✔ Do medical checkups
✔ Don’t abuse drugs
✔ Eat wisely
✔ Rest well
✔ Drink water
✔ Go to hospital when symptoms persist.
Actually, hospital bills are painful, but late diagnosis is more painful.
Take care of body your body before it becomes late.

In our society, when one is having headache, ulcer or typhoid, people show love and empathy. However, reverse is the case when one is having a mental illness, society stigmatise and isolate the person.
Now you know that nobody really cares about you except few family members and few friends. Would you continue trying to impress people? If I were you, I would say NO.
Mental illness is like an equilibrium, when shifted from a centre pole to either left or right pole ọwọgokwa ara be that but may not land one to the hospital when managed properly. That's what we call crisis in mental health, everyone has experienced it anyway. People will call you onye ara when you're burnout and didn't pay attention to yourself or call for help.
As I said earlier, Mental illness being a disease of the mind, this disease doesn't just occur without a factor or a causes that predisposes someone to it.
This factor I'm talking about isn't a spiritual factor like many of you attribute every mental illness to a supernatural causes.
👉Do you know that sleeping less than 7 hours a day can make you a psychiatric patient? Take enough sleep
👉Do you know that your reaction to some issues can make you a psychiatric patient? Now it's not everything that you can control. Sometimes like the way people treat or perceive you is something you can't totally control but how you react to it is necessary.
👉Do you know that so much stress, pressure and anxiety can make you a psychiatric patient? Now stress is part of human life but some can be managed. You can't do everything in a day and stop k!lling yourself to impress others, no body cares.
👉Do you know that the little smoke you're testing today can make you a psychiatric patient? Unfortunately every addiction started with testing. Be careful.
I can't say it all but just know that you're more important than whatever thing that's stressing you and whoever you're trying to impress.
Biko, try and exercise and make out time for yourself.
Don't forget to be happy always 😊😊
Happy World Mental Health Day!

I've blocked those that didn't invite me for Sunday rice. No body should show them this.
Let's talk about when and how to eat fruits.
I've heard many people ask whether it's better to eat fruits in an empty stomach or after a meal.
Someone people claim that eating fruits in an empty stomach enhances absorption of micro nutrient. Their claim however is what we call anecdotal evidence.
I'm not here to tell you when to take your fruit. Na me buy am for you?😌😌 My own business is to remind you that taking some fruits in an empty stomach can cause you ulcer. Relax, I'll explain.
Some fruits like orange, lemon, guava even tomatoes and some vegetables like raw cabbages, should be avoided in an empty stomach.
When the above are taken in an empty stomach, they increase the gastric acid production ( acid produced by the stomach). This acid that's produced is meant for breakdown of food but when there's no food in the stomach to break, it may breakdown the lumen of the stomach causing ulcer.
Now, I advise you break your fast before taking your fruit instead of predisposing yourself to sickness because of anecdotal evidence.
Don't tell those that didn't invite me for Sunday rice that I've dropped a new tip.😌😌😃😃
Stay healthy
