THE THRONE OF ADOGA
Episode Nine: The Pride of Orokamu
The land of Orokamu did not welcome strangers.
It tested them.
Adoga felt it the moment he crossed into its borders.
The air was heavier.
The silence sharper.
Even the wind seemed to watch.
Behind him, the river flowed at a distance, as if it had followed him this far… but would go no further.
Naria stopped walking.
“This is where my path ends for now,” she said.
Adoga turned.
“You’re not coming?”
Naria shook her head slowly.
“Orokamu is not a place for hidden truths. What awaits you here… must meet you as a man, not a child guided by an old woman.”
Adoga studied her face.
There was something unspoken in her eyes.
“Be careful,” she added.
“Pride lives here. And pride does not kneel easily.”
Adoga nodded once.
Then he turned…
And walked into Orokamu alone.
The gates of Orokamu were massive.
Carved from dark wood, marked with symbols of war and victory.
Two guards stepped forward immediately, spears crossed.
“State your name.”
Adoga stood tall.
“Adoga.”
The guards exchanged glances.
One of them scoffed.
“The same Adoga the warlord is searching for?”
Adoga did not flinch.
“Yes.”
Silence.
Then—
“Let him pass.”
The voice came from behind the gates.
Deep.
Commanding.
The doors opened slowly.
And there he stood.
Prince Amokachi.
He was everything the stories said.
Tall.
Broad-shouldered.
Eyes that carried no softness.
Power radiated from him like heat from fire.
He stepped forward, studying Adoga carefully.
“So… you are the man bringing war to our land.”
Adoga met his gaze.
“I did not bring war. War was already coming.”
Amokachi smirked faintly.
“And yet it follows you.”
The warriors around them watched closely.
This was not just a meeting.
It was a test.
Amokachi stepped closer.
“You walk into my land alone. Either you are brave… or foolish.”
Adoga’s voice was calm.
“Or both.”
A few warriors shifted.
Amokachi’s smirk faded.
Good.
He liked resistance.
Without warning—
Amokachi struck.
Fast.
A blade aimed straight for Adoga’s chest.
But Adoga moved.
Just enough.
The blade grazed his shoulder.
Adoga stepped back, eyes sharp.
“You attack without reason?”
Amokachi’s voice was cold.
“In Orokamu, your reason is your strength.”
He attacked again.
Faster this time.
Adoga blocked.
Steel clashed.
The sound echoed through the compound.
Warriors gathered.
A circle formed.
No one interfered.
This was necessary.
Blow after blow.
Speed against power.
Precision against force.
Adoga adapted quickly.
But Amokachi was relentless.
Each strike carried weight.
Each movement carried intent.
“You fight well,” Amokachi said between strikes.
“But not like a king.”
Adoga’s eyes hardened.
“And you rule like a tyrant.”
The air shifted.
That word landed.
Amokachi’s attack became more aggressive.
Adoga barely avoided a crushing strike.
The ground cracked beneath the impact.
This was no longer a test.
This was pride.
Clashing.
Then suddenly—
A voice cut through the tension.
“Enough.”
Everything stopped.
Even Amokachi.
She stepped into the circle slowly.
And the entire atmosphere changed.
Ochefije.
The priestess of Okungaga.
The woman Adoga had once given his heart to.
She was not just beautiful.
She was powerful.
Her presence alone carried authority.
Her eyes met Adoga’s.
And for a moment…
The war disappeared.
“You came,” she said softly.
Adoga’s voice lowered.
“I had to.”
Amokachi watched them closely.
His expression unreadable.
But something dark flickered in his eyes.
“So,” he said slowly, “this is the man.”
Ochefije turned to him.
“This is the one the river chose.”
Amokachi scoffed.
“The river does not decide who leads Orokamu.”
Ochefije’s gaze sharpened.
“No. But destiny decides who survives what is coming.”
Silence.
Heavy.
Dangerous.
Later that night, inside the sacred shrine of Okungaga, the fire burned blue.
Ochefije stood before it, her hands raised slightly.
Adoga stood behind her.
“Why are you here?” she asked without turning.
“To prepare,” Adoga replied.
“To fight Kargun.”
Ochefije shook her head slowly.
“You are not ready.”
Adoga frowned
“You sound like Naria.”
Ochefije turned now.
“And she is right.”
Adoga stepped closer.
“I have trained. I have seen what the river shows.”
Ochefije’s eyes softened slightly.
“But you have not yet faced yourself.”
Adoga paused.
“What does that mean?”
The fire flickered higher.
“You carry anger. Loss. Guilt.”
Her voice dropped.
“And love.”
Adoga looked at her.
Something unspoken passed between them.
“That will either strengthen you…” she continued.
“Or destroy you.”
Outside, in the darkness, Amokachi stood watching the shrine.
One of his generals approached.
“My prince… can he be trusted?”
Amokachi’s jaw tightened.
“I do not trust men who carry prophecy.”
His eyes remained fixed on the shrine.
“Because they believe the world owes them victory.”
The general hesitated.
“And if he is the one meant to defeat Kargun?”
Amokachi’s voice turned cold.
“Then he will prove it.”
A pause.
“Or he will fall like the rest.”
Back inside, Ochefije stepped closer to Adoga.
“There are things you do not yet understand,” she said.
“The river chose you. Yes.”
“But the gods are still watching.”
Adoga’s voice lowered.
“Then let them watch.”
Ochefije studied him carefully.
“The next path you walk… will decide everything.”
Adoga nodded.
“I am ready.”
Ochefije’s eyes held both belief…
And fear.
“No,” she whispered.
“You are becoming ready.”
Outside, thunder rolled faintly in the distance.
Not from the sky.
But from war.
Orokamu stood strong.
But cracks were already forming.
Pride.
Power.
Destiny.
All colliding.
And at the center of it all…
Adoga.
The River Prince had arrived.
But Orokamu did not kneel.
It challenged.
And the battle for trust…
Had just begun.
TO BE CONTINUED…
