π§ LCO Method (Liquid β Cream β Oil)
π‘ Best for: Low to Medium Porosity Hair (Moisture-resistant, prone to product build-up)
Why? Cream helps soften and hydrate, oil seals without weighing hair down.
β
Step 1: Liquid/Leave-in
Water or water-based leave-in conditioner
Example: Rose Water, Lightweight Leave-ins
β
Step 2: Cream
Light, moisturizing cream or lotion
Example: Aloe Vera Cream, Lightweight Curl Cream
β
Step 3: Oil
Sealing oil (light oils work best for low porosity)
Example: Argan Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil
π Understanding Hair Porosity
Porosity = How well your hair absorbs and retains moisture.
βοΈ Low Porosity: Cuticles are tight; hair resists moisture.
βοΈ High Porosity: Cuticles are raised; moisture escapes quickly.
βοΈ Medium/Normal Porosity: Balanced moisture absorption & retention.
π¦ Steps for Each Method + Product Suggestions
π₯ LOC Method (Liquid β Oil β Cream)
π‘ Best for: High Porosity Hair (Prone to dryness, breaks easily)
Why? This method seals in moisture effectively for hair that loses hydration quickly.
β
Step 1: Liquid/Leave-in
Use water or a water-based leave-in conditioner
Example: Aloe Vera Juice, Hydrating Leave-in Sprays, or any leave in conditioner that is hydrating
β
Step 2: light weight /heavy oils to seal moisture I recommend heavier oils
Example: Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Olive Oil, Avocado Oil
β
Step 3: Cream
Thick creams or butters to further lock in moisture
Example: Shea Butter Cream, Curl Enhancing Smoothie, mango butter etc
