A father walked into the pharmacy and requested Amoxicillin suspension for his child.
After purchasing it, he asked:
"Will this treat malaria and typhoid?"
I had to explain that Amoxicillin is an antibiotic and does not treat malaria.
Many people still believe that one medicine can treat every fever, but malaria and bacterial infections are different conditions and require different treatments.
The truth is that not every fever is malaria, and not every fever is typhoid.
Giving the wrong medication can delay proper treatment and may even worsen the child's condition.
Before treating a child for malaria, typhoid, or any infection, it is important to get the right diagnosis rather than relying on assumptions.
As parents, let's remember: the right medicine starts with the right diagnosis.

A mother came into the pharmacy today asking for an antibiotic for her child.
The child had been coughing for just 2 days.
When I asked a few questions, I found out there was no fever, the child was still eating, playing and behaving normally.
She was surprised when I told her the child might not need an antibiotic.
One thing I see often in the pharmacy is parents assuming every cough or catarrh needs antibiotics.
But that is not always the case.
Many childhood coughs are caused by viruses, and antibiotics do not work against viruses.
Giving antibiotics when they are not needed can expose children to unnecessary side effects and contribute to antibiotic resistance.
This is why it is important to ask questions and find out what is really causing the symptoms before rushing to buy antibiotics.
As a parent, have you ever given your child an antibiotic for cough or catarrh?
Let's talk in the comments. ๐

Parents, let's talk๐ซ
Your child suddenly develops a fever in the middle of the night.
What's the first thing you do?
A. Give Paracetamol
B. Sponge the child
C. Rush to the hospital
D. Call someone for advice

One thing I've noticed is that fever makes many parents panic immediately.
But not every fever means something serious is going on.
What I pay attention to is:
โ๏ธ Is the child active or unusually weak?
โ๏ธ Is the child eating or drinking?
โ๏ธ Is there vomiting, difficulty breathing, or convulsions?
โ๏ธ How old is the child?
Sometimes the number on the thermometer is not the only thing that matters.
Now let's talk.
What's the highest temperature you've ever seen on your child's thermometer? ๐ก๏ธ

Why You Need Evening Primrose Oil as a Woman๐
A lady came into the pharmacy to buy supplements.
As I was attending to her, she asked:
"Do I really need Evening Primrose Oil? My friends talk about it all the time."
I smiled because this is a question I hear often.
Evening Primrose Oil is one of the most popular supplements among women, and for good reason. Many women use it to support:
๐ธ Breast comfort before their period
๐ธ PMS symptoms such as mood swings, bloating, and irritability
๐ธ Healthy, glowing skin
๐ธ Hormonal wellness
๐ธ Comfort during menopause
It has become a favourite for many women who want extra support for their overall wellbeing.
Of course, supplements work best when combined with a healthy lifestyle, but Evening Primrose Oil is definitely one of those supplements worth knowing about.
Have you ever used Evening Primrose Oil before?

TRUE OR FALSE?
If your child is eating well, there is no need for supplements.

I hear this a lot from parents.
The truth is, not every child who eats well will need supplements, but not every child who eats well is getting all the nutrients they need either.
This is why supplements should not be given just because another child is taking them or because they look healthy.
Some children may benefit from supplements, while others may not need them at all.
The best approach is to give supplements based on your child's needs and professional advice.
Now over to you parents ๐
Do your children take any supplements regularly?

He came for TWO antibiotics๐ What he didn't know was that he was about to take the same antibiotic twice๐คฆ๐ฝโโ๏ธ
A man came into the pharmacy tonight asking for Ampiclox and Ampicillin.
I asked:
"Sir, are these medications for you?"
He said yes.
Then I asked:
"Why do you want to use Ampiclox and Ampicillin together?"
He replied that he had painful red sores on his gums.
I asked him to open his mouth so I could have a look.
After checking, I explained:
Sir, Ampiclox already contains Ampicillin.
Each capsule contains Ampicillin and Cloxacillin.
So taking Ampiclox together with another Ampicillin means you're doubling up on the same antibiotic unnecessarily.
The surprising part?
From what I saw, there was no obvious reason to start antibiotics.
Many mouth sores are not caused by bacteria at all.
They can be linked to vitamin deficiencies (especially B vitamins), stress, injury to the mouth, or other non-bacterial causes.
Instead of rushing for antibiotics, it's important to identify the actual cause first.
Lesson: Not every sore, pain, or infection-like symptom needs an antibiotic.
Using antibiotics when they are not needed can expose you to side effects and contribute to antibiotic resistance.
Always ask questions before taking medications.
Sometimes the right treatment is completely different from what you had in mind.
Have you ever bought a medicine only to find out later that it wasn't what you actually needed?
