Motherhood is not beans.
Anybody that says it is easy has either forgotten the journey or is still observing from afar.

We wake up tired.
We sleep tired.
Sometimes we are angry, sometimes we are emotional, sometimes we laugh at things that are not even funny.
And yet, we are expected to be perfect.

Dear mothers, let me say this gently:
Our children are not our punching bags.
They are not the reason life is hard.
They are not the problem—we are their first teachers.

I know stress is real.
Bills are real.
Marriage wahala is real.
Loneliness is real.
And sometimes the only people around us are small humans who don’t understand why mummy is quiet today.

But shouting every day does not raise strong children.
Insults don’t build confidence.
Comparing them to other children doesn’t make them better—it makes them smaller inside.

Sometimes the child you call “stubborn” is just confused.
Sometimes the child you call “too slow” is actually trying.
And sometimes the child you think is “rude” is only repeating what they hear at home.

Let’s be honest—some of us are parenting with wounds.
We were shouted at.
We were bullied.
We were told “keep quiet” instead of “come here, let me explain.”
So now, without knowing, we repeat the same pattern.

But motherhood is also about unlearning.

It’s okay to pause.
It’s okay to breathe before shouting.
It’s okay to laugh at small mistakes—after all, even adults burn rice sometimes 😅

Talk to your children.
Listen to them.
Correct them, yes—but with love.
Discipline them, yes—but without breaking their spirit.

One day, that child will grow up and remember two things:
How you made them feel when they were wrong…
And how safe they felt coming to you when the world was unkind.

Dear mothers, you are doing your best.
But let’s do better—not perfect, just better.

And to every mother reading this while tired, overwhelmed, or laughing for no reason at all—
You are seen.
You are trying.
And your children don’t need a perfect mum…
They just need you, with love, patience, and small small laughter in between.
