Anna ...5

A year after Anna's fallout with her parents, Dimitri invited Anna to an outing outskirt of town. It was not the first time Anna had gone on such outings with Dimitri. She was excited because the last time she went on such an outing with Dimitri, she got lots of gifts even from his friends.
He told her she could bring Jasmine and Chika. When they heard they were invited , they were happy.
" Maybe we will catch our own big fish" Jasmine said winking .
The day of the party arrived, Dimitri sent a driver to pick them up and bring them to a hotel. At the hotel Dimitri introduced Jasmine and Chika to his friends, Damian and Scott. Damian left with Jasmine while Scott left with Chika. It was agreed that she each girl will go with each man in his car..
They drove in a convoy to the venue which was a mansion with a very big car park and Dimitri park almost at the end of the car pack. On getting there, the men told the girls to remain in the cars because there will be a meeting before the party starts.
Anna tried calling Jasmine and Chika to know where they were parked but there was no network on her phone.
Anna woke up with a start to hear her phone ringing and it was Jasmine that was calling her . She tried calling her back but the line wasn't connecting. She glanced through the car window when she noticed some hooded men dragging girls out of cars. That was when it dawned on Anna that something bad was about to happen.
Anna was scared so she called Dimitri's line, it rang then later said switched off. For the first time in a long time, Anna prayed.
"Lord, I know I am not worthy to call on you for help because I have gone against your word but if you can forgive me and save me just this once, I will forever be your servant. Please Lord, hide me in your wings" , Anna prayed fervently.
After she finished praying, she crawled to the back seat of the car. She saw Dimitri's jacket lying on the seat so she used it to cover herself. The jacket could only cover her face to her upper body so her legs were showing. She kept repeating
" He shall cover me with his feathers and under His wings shall I trust. His truth shall be my shield and buckler" (Ps 91:4)
She kept repeating the verse quietly when she heard the car door open and she froze under the jacket.
" What's keeping you long" a voice said
" There is nobody in this car" another voice said.
" That's not possible " the first voice said "we were told that all the cars here have a girl in it"
" Please let's go, we are already behind schedule ".
Anna waited for like 5 minutes before removing the jacket over her body. She peeped through the window and saw that the hooded men had gone. She opened the door and started walking cautiously. As she approached the gate, she saw two men sitting beside the gate. At first, she was scared that they might stop her from leaving. She muttered under her breathe
" Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me"

As she approached the gate, the men didn't even notice her. She opened the gate and started running but didn't know where to run because she didn't pay attention when Dimitri was driving. Ten minutes into running, she heard voices singing and traced the voices to a church that was holding night vigil.
Anna entered the church, fell on her knees and started crying.
" Thank you Jesus, thank you Lord. You kept your word. I am forever grateful" she whispered while crying.
After the vigil ended, Anna approached the pastor and told him her story of how God saved her from rituals . She told him that she doesn't know her way back to town and that she didn't have any money on her because she left her bag and phone in a hurry while trying to escape. The pastor said that he will personally take her to the nearest park so that she can go home. He prayed for her and told her to remember to keep her promise to God.
Anna didn't go back to her apartment, she went straight home. As she got to her parents house, she broke down and started crying. Her parents rushed out when they heard someone crying.
" Anna what happened"
" Anna talk to us"

Anna couldn't reply. She was just crying as her mind kept replaying all that happened. When she was able to talk, her parents also cried and blessed the name of the Lord.
Anna stayed home for two weeks. She was scared of going back to school especially when she heard from her class WhatsApp group that Jasmine and Chika bodies were dumped beside a dumpster with parts of their body missing. Her parents took her to the police station to report the incident. The police officer in charge told her to lead them to Dimitri's house but when they got there, the compound was empty as if nobody had ever lived there. Dimitri's line was also not going through.
Anna rededicated her life to God and spent her remaining days of her life in school, preaching against peer pressure, prostitution and how God saved her life.

" Anna ,calm down"
" Don't tell me to calm down,don't tell me that. You think I don't know that you have been gossiping about me ..I know you are jealous of me"
" Anna please" pleaded Beulah
" I think my time in this dump is overdue. I will tell my baby to get me a befitting place"
"Anna please listen to me"
"Don't talk to me like I am a child. For the remaining days that I will be here, avoid me"
Beulah was shocked at Anna's reaction. She was hurt by it all that she walked out of the room to clear her mind.

The following week, Anna moved into a mini spare close to her school. Jasmine and Chika came over to celebrate her new apartment.
" Anna, see how you are glowing . See how lucky you are " Jasmine said looking around the furnished apartment.

" See Anna of yesterday oh" Chika said " Anna that we were begging to follow us out and she was forming now see the big fish she caught"
" All thanks to you guys"

For six months Anna's parents didn't know she had left the hostel until the day they came to visit her because for over eight months they have not seen Anna. It's only on the phone they talk to her. On getting to the room, her parents met Jasmine, Chika and Beulah. Jasmine and Chika lied that Anna went out to visit a coursemate. It was Beulah who summoned courage to say Anna had moved out and she didn't know where she moved to. After her parents left, Jasmine and Chika faced Beulah and started quarrelling her for saying the truth. They called Anna to tell her that her parents came looking for her.
The following day, Anna went to her parents house. Her parents asked her why she refused to come home even when school was on holidays. She gave excuses that she had term papers to attend and she needed to stay back to avoid distractions. Her mother asked her why she left the hostel
" I need my privacy" she replied
" Privacy, Anna since when"
"How did you get the money to pay for a place"
"It's my money"
" Are you working" her father asked
She couldn't reply
" Anna I am asking you a question..are you working"
"No"
" Then how are you able to pay for the house"
" Look at the expensive wig you are wearing. You have even changed your phone" her mother said looking at her.
" Why all these questions
Shouldn't you be happy that I can take care of myself. After all , I don't ask you for money" she replied rudely
" Anna , how dare you talk to us like that" her mother said " we didn't train you to be rude"
" Look mum, I came here out of respect but it seems talking to both of you is not helping matters so I will take my leave" she said standing up to leave.
" If you step out of this house, don't come back" her father said calmly.
" Fine"
Anna cut off communication with her parents. She was still in contact with her siblings and from time to time, she sent money to them without their parents.

Anna .... 3

The night of the party, Jasmine and Chika went to work to make Anna look like a damsel. Anna couldn't recognize herself in the mirror.
" See fine babe na"
" Anna , you look so beautiful"
The party was in a private residence. It was strictly on invitation. It was one of Jasmine contacts that got them the invites.
They walked up to an open bar and sat down. Anna was tensed and it showed. "Relax yourself" Jasmine said placing her hand on Anna's shoulder. " If anybody approached you, smile. Don't worry, we will access any man that approaches you"

Meanwhile, some tables away from where Anna was sitting was a Man, Dimitri. He was watching the girls especially Anna . By midnight, the party started with young ladies dancing with men. Jasmine and Chika left Anna at the bar to go dance with some men. Anna became very uncomfortable as men were looking at her. Some men tried to talk to her but Jasmine will appear beside her and drag her away . "That one looks like bad market" Jasmine will say

" Can I join you" , a deep voice said behind her.
Anna was startled when she heard the voice. She turned to find herself starring into the eyes of a handsome man. He was dark and tall with piercing eyes, blue eyes she observed.
" I didn't mean to startle you. I am Dimitri, can I join you, he asked.
Anna looked over his shoulders to see Jasmine giving her thumbs up. They spent the night talking with time, Anna was no longer tensed. She enjoyed his company. Later on, he asked her if she would join him for the night. That was how her affair with Dimitri started she didn't know much about him except for the fact that he was rich and spends a lot on her. In under a week, Anna was shopping for new clothes, shoes, wigs and she even got a new phone . He told her he didn't want to see her with another man. Every weekend, she was with Dimitri, travelling from one state to another. With time she was accompanying him overseas. Anna no longer went home on weekends to see her parents. She always came up with an excuse why she couldn't go home.
Beulah noticed the drastic change in Anna and decided to talk to her.
" Anna, please can we talk"
" Sure, what's up"
" What's going on. You've changed a lot. You are hardly around and you don't even come for fellowship again"
" It's that why you asked for a talk? Are you now monitoring my movement" she asked angrily.
" It's not like that " stammered Beulah " it's just that the fellowship leader asked of you"
" So you went ahead to say lies about me abi" she replied shouting
" Anna calm down"

ANNA ...Part 2

One day Anna came back from class early because she wasn't concentrating in class so she decided to come back and rest. When she got to the room, her other roommates were not around.
" I wonder were Jazz and Chika have gone to' she thought to herself. She wandered over to Jasmine's corner and started admiring Jasmine's clothes and bags. When will I have these things. I told Mom that I needed clothes and even if it's only a wig but she said there was no money for now. See how Jazz and Chika are able to afford whatever they want. Maybe I will join them once in their outing so I can buy the things I need. Just once then I stop.
Anna was lost in her thoughts and she didn't know when Beulah walked into the room.
" Anna, Anna" Beulah said. " I have been standing here calling your name. This one that you are admiring Jasmine's stuff, hope you are not thinking of joining them.
" Please stop abeg. What is it sef. What do you think I am thinking. Please leave me alone" Anna replied angrily.
" I didn't mean to offend you, it's just that you have told me of your background so I know your parents will not be happy if you derail"
" Don't mention my parents again " , Anna said and left the room.

Later in the evening when Anna came back, Beulah tried to apologize to her but she refused to listen.
The Next day, ,Anna approached Jasmine and told her that she would like to join them on their next outing. Jasmine was happy and told her she will provide clothes, wig and shoes for Anna to wear.

ANNA

Anna was a young who grew up in a Christian home. Her parents never failed to instil in her and her siblings, the way of Lord, Jesus. She gained admission into the university; she was the first child of her parents so it was a thing of joy on the family. Her father took the family out to celebrate. " Hard work backed up with prayers, pay" her parents always say.

Days to Anna's departure to school, her parents sat her down.
" Anna, we bless the name of the Log who has made it possible for you to go to the university" her father said. " Remember the home you come from, don't allow negative influences around you. Guard your heart at all times"
You will always be in our prayers " her mother said softly.

Anna was so happy that she was finally going to the university, she has always dreamt of it. Her first year, Anna excelled in her academics and with time she started making friends. She also joing a campus fellowship then became a choirister.
In her second year, she was allotted a different hostel and that was where she met Jasmine, Chika and Beulah who were her roommates. Jasmine and Chika were more outgoing and loud while Beulah was more of an introvert who kept mostly to herself. Coincidentally, Beulah and Anna attended the same campus fellowship. Jasmine and Chika are party animals s, always going and coming back with either new bags, clothes ,wigs and money. They tried to convince Beulah and Anna to join them on one of their outings but they refused. Beulah in particular avoided them but Anna would sit with them and gist.

One day, Anna was alone in the room when Jasmine walked in.
"How far" Jasmine said smiling
" Jazz, I de oh. I haven't seen you and Chika in days"
" Chi is not back" she asked surprised " that girl and flexing na 5&6" she said laughing
" Anna, try and follow us just once, you will like it. I don't know why you are dulling yourself. If you don't enjoy life now when do you intend enjoying it..in your old age" she asked. " I can buy anything I want, boasted Jasmine. " I can't remember the last time I asked my parents or even my elder siblings for money"
" But I am not lacking" said Anna defensively
" You say" asked Jasmine laughing. " You think don't see you how you admire our stuff"

The door opened and Chika walked in
" Helllooooo" Chika said smiling
" So you no wan come back abi" Jasmine asked jokingly
" My sisterrrrrr, I had to wait to ensure money touch my hand before leaving oh" she replied with a sly smile
" What's the gist na" she asked, sitting on her bed.
" I was telling Anna that she should join in and hang out"
" But Anna, why are you like this. Fine girl like you with brains suppose de live soft life. There is a party this Friday, come with us and you will not regret it".
Anna refused saying that it goes against her morals.

CHIDERA ...Part 2

After the death of Lebechi, Chidera was distraught . She couldn't believe her mother was dead. Neighbors came to console her but she felt empty. How am I going to cope she said to herself.
On the second day after Lebechi's passing, Her in-laws came.
" Chidera, you have to be strong. I know it's not easy" Nduka said feigning pity. " Don't worry you will be taken care of. Right now we have to make preparation for your mother's burial"
" Ada daddy, be strong you hear. I am here for you" Ekene told Chidera. " My home will be your home"
Neighbors upon hearing these statements from them started praying for them that God will bless them.
A week later, Lebechi was laid to rest. The following day Nduka and Ekene came to see Chidera at home..
" Bia, pack your things you are leaving this house." Nduka said without remorse.
Chidera was shocked " uncle I don't understand" she stammered.
" What don't you understand" interjected Ekene angrily. " So you think we will leave you to stay in this big house alone. My friend pack your things right now" she shouted.
" No need to raise your voice so that you don't attract those nosy neighbors " he said to Ekene. He turned to Chidera and said " this house has been sold, so you have barely 24 hours to leave else the new owners will throw you out when they come tomorrow"
" Uncle where do you want me to go" Chidera asked " why did you sell my father's house"
"Look at this girl oh. Why won't I sell your father's house" he said mockly. " The burial expenses that we covered, won't you pay us back. The payment of the house is what we used to reimburse the people we borrowed money from for your mother's burial" he replied. " Look I don't have time for this, leave this house first thing tomorrow morning and don't bother moving anything out. Just carry your clothes because everything in this house belongs to the new owners. The security at the main gate have been informed not to allow you pass the gate with any valuables except your clothes"
" Uncle, Aunty I have no place to go" she begged
" But you do. Your late mum had a sister so go there"
Nduka turned to Ekene" please let's go, it's getting late".
After they left, Chidera fell on the ground and was crying " Mummy, Daddy " she wailed. " " What crime did I do for both of you to abandon me. God please don't abandon me"

The following morning, Chidera called her mum's sister and told her what happened. Her aunt told her to come over so packed her clothes with that of her mum and left the house.
When she got to her aunt's place, she broke down and cried when she saw her aunt. Her aunt joined her and they were both crying.
Dimma thought she would hold her emotions for the sake of her niece but seeing her crying, she couldn't. They both cried until Chidera fell asleep on her aunt's laps.
2 weeks after Chidera moved in with her aunt and her family, she woke up to hear her aunt and her husband talking in hush tones in the sitting room
" I am not saying she can't stay but how are we going to cope. You know I just started this job and now you are telling me she got an admission into school. How are we going to cope" the husband , Micheal said " I know you want to fulfill your late sister's wish but we are not financially capable right now"
Hearing this, Chidera quietly went back to the room and wept silently
After Uncle Micheal and the kids had gone to work, Chidera approached her aunt.
" Aunty I didn't mean to eavesdrop on you and Uncle but I heard your discussion. I want you to know that I value all you are doing for me. I don't mind defiling this years admission. I can get a job and work and save. The money my late was saving is still with me so I can add whatever I work for the next one year to it and pay for my fees. I will make sure I get something doing in school even it means washing fellow students clothes" she said with tears in her eyes.
Dimma looked at her for long with tears in her eyes. " Chidera I am with you in this journey and with God on our side, you shall prevail".

Chidera got a job as a cleaner in a law firm. She was diligent in her duties that with time she was being noticed. At home, she assisted her aunt with chores b4 going to work and in the evening she took care of her aunt's children. There was nobody who came across Chidera who didn't like her because she was Godly and homely . Any opportunity she got, she shared the word of God. She always ended her saying with " I love you but God loves you more"
The following year, she wrote Jamb and she score 324. Her admission was secured and with money her mother had saved and the money she saved as working as a cleaner she was able to pay her fees. Her aunt and her husband also contributed.
Her first year in the university as a law Student, Chidera excelled . In her second year, she won two scholarships which was a big relieved for her and her aunt.
Chidera graduated top in her class and after service, an international law firm recruited her. In a space of three years, Chidera became a top shot in her field
One day while visiting her aunt in the new building she bought for her aunt and her husband, Aunt Dimma said " Chidera whenever I see you or think of you, I am reminded of the goodness of God. My daughter you are a true testament that God keeps his promises to his children".
Chidera smiled and said " God is not a man that he should lie( Numbers 23"19). It is also written in Joshua 21:45 which declares that not one of God's good promises shall fail"
God is Good!
