How to Get Rid of Clogged Pores
To get rid of clogged pores, you must first do all you can to prevent clogged pores from occurring in the first place by using suitable products and making sure you properly cleanse your skin. This right here is very important. Once this is achieved, you can then experiment with various active treatments for the clogged pores. Let's go through each of those concepts in detail.

1. Look at the products you are using:
What kind of facial products do you use?. Clogged pores are usually caused by and relieved by something topical, so look at what products you using. This can be anything from moisturizer, cleanser, toner, makeup, to hair products and laundry detergent. Anything that touches your skin is a potential clogged pore culprit.

Clogged pores can take up to 2 weeks to show up on your skin, so something you used several weeks ago (3-6 weeks) could have caused that reaction.

Here is a list of products that may clog pores,
Moisturizer
Primer
Sunscreen
Makeup - (especially liquid foundation, mineral makeup, or blush)
Anything creamy - (ex. treatment creams/lotions, creamy cleansers, etc.)
Facial oils - (not all oils are bad, but if you are clog-prone, you will have to test each oil out to see which ones don't clog your skin)

List of skin care ingredients that may clog pores:
Anything with "cone" at the end - ex. silicone, dimethicone, etc.
Mica
Zinc Oxide
Titanium Dioxide
Bismuth Oxychloride
Shea Butter
Corn Starch
Facial Oils - this varies wildly from person to person
Coconut derived additives and ingredients:
1,2 Octanediol
2 Phenoxyethanol
Ammonium Lauryl Sulphate
Capryl Glycol
Caprylic Acid
Caprylic Glycol
Caprylic/Capric
Caprylyl Glycol
Ceteareth-20
Cetearyl Alcohol etc, etc, etc, the list is endless
It is very advisable that you stay away from facial products that have these contents

2. Remove waterproof products and cleanse properly:
Not only is it important to use the right products on your skin, it is also important to properly remove products that you apply to your skin, especially products like waterproof makeup and sunscreen. If left on your skin, residue from these products could potentially clog your pores. Many people like using an oil-based cleanser and a cleansing oil to make sure all waterproof products are completely removed.

Help!...I Can't Stop Picking At My face, What Should I do???

Its alright. This is what you have to know and what you need to do.

Picking at your skin will do nothing but make it worse. You probably know this, but sometimes it's just really hard to stop picking at pimples or spots on your face.

Here are some tips to help you avoid this bad habit:

1. Don’t touch your face - If you don’t touch your face, you won’t feel any pimples. If you don’t feel any pimples, you won’t pick at your face.

2. Use dim or friendly lights in the bathroom - Fluorescent lights can really make your skin look worse, so try to install a yellow light so things look warmer.

3. Don’t spend too much time in the bathroom - The longer you are in there, the higher the chance you will notice something on your face that you want to pick. Go into the bathroom, do your business, and leave as soon as possible.

4. Avoid mirrors whenever possible - If you are going to look at yourself in a mirror, keep a distance of 3 feet. This prevents you from getting too close and noticing things you want to pick.

5. Every time you feel like picking, do something else with your fingers. Fidget, play with your pen, pick your nose. Whatever it is, make sure you distract yourself long enough for the compulsion to pass.

6. Educate yourself on how bad it is to pick at your ski - The severe consequences of picking at your skin (more acne, scarring, etc.) should serve as a proper deterrent.

Make sure you have realistic expectations about your skin. Super photoshopped magazine ads give people unrealistic expectations about getting "perfect" skin when in fact, it is completely normal to have visible pores, blemishes, and fine lines.

Don't pick at your skin because you want to make it look like something out of a magazine, especially since most people don't walk around with professional makeup, good lighting cast on them all the time, and expert computer re-touching.

Stay. away. from. picking!

Does Popping Pimples Make Them Go Away Faster??

I have to admit, this a habit indulged in by most people affected with acne. I used to be 100% guilty of this act, until i know better. It's normal to want to move your hand on your face whenever you have pimples, acne and blemishes. But its actually wroooooonng!!!

So, the answer to the question is a capital NO!!!

No. Popping pimples does not make them go away faster. Seriously, keep your hands away from your face at all times, especially if you have active acne.

It’s not so much that touching your skin will spread bacteria and worsen acne, but more often than not, when most people touch their face, they use their fingers to “scan” for any surface irregularities. Whenever they feel a bump or a scab, there’s a compulsion to try to squeeze and pick it off.

Preventing yourself from touching your face means preventing yourself from "feeling" any blemishes and thereby avoiding the impulse to pop anything. In my experience, picking and popping pimples spreads acne more than touching.

The reason you shouldn't pop pimples
Don’t pop your pimples because doing so pushes bacteria deeper into your skin and helps it spread to other areas of your face. The pimple you pick could very well come back the next day, especially if you fail to extract the root of the pimple completely. Picking at spots can also cause more pimples to pop up around the picked areas of your skin, so the more pimples you pick, the more pimples you get.

Not to mention, popping pimples can often cause scarring and red marks that last for a very long time. Popping and squeezing zits is actually damaging to your skin. Would you rather have a red spot on your face for around a week or a scar that sticks around for several months or possibly years?

Your answer is as good as mine (that is if you are wise 😄)

How to Properly Extract a Pimple

Sometimes popping a pimple will make it scab over but heal faster, while at other times squeezing and popping acne spots just makes them grow even bigger and redder. but, i have an advise for you -

Don't. do. it!

Please, don't do it. Really resist it if you can. Avoid all mirrors. Don't touch your face. Do whatever you can to not pick because picking can cause even more pimples and possible scarring.

However, I know it's hard to resist, especially the pimples that are just screaming to be popped. So if you have to do it, at least make sure you do it right. Here are some simple rules and tips to help you properly pop a pimple:

1. Buy a pimple extractor - The best kind of extractors are the beauty tools that have a needle point on one end (used for pricking open pimples) and a loop on the other (used for pressing down on pricked or open pimples to squeeze out the gunk)

I. prefer extractors with a thin metal loop. When the loop is too thick, it's more difficult to accurately pinpoint certain pores, especially if you are trying to extract blackheads.

2. Disinfect everything - Disinfect the comedone extractor with some alcohol and wash your face and hands before proceeding with any extractions.

3. Prep your skin - It's best to do pimple extractions after you've washed or steamed your face (be careful not to get too close to the steam or you'll risk broken capillaries). That way the clogged sebum inside your skin is softened and more ready to be squeezed out.

4. Pick the right pimples to pop - Only attempt to pop pimples with a big, white or yellow-ish head. Don't even think about trying to extract blind pimples without a head because you will only make the pimple grow bigger and cause other pimples to pop up in the surrounding area. The bigger the white/yellow-ish head on a zit, the safer it is to pop without any consequences.

5. Squeeze gently - Using the extractor, prick the tip of the pimple if necessary then place the loop part of the extractor over the pimple and gently press down. If the pimple is ready to come out, the gunk should be squeezed out quite easily. You want to make sure to get it all out. A more solid part, the acne root or "mother seed", must be extracted to make sure the pimple doesn't come back the next day.

6. Use your finger - Sometimes using the extractor doesn't get all the gunk out, especially if the pimple is bigger than the loop of the extractor. In these situations, wrap your index fingers in some tissue paper and gently squeeze both sides of the pimple to make for a clean extraction.

7. Know when to give up - If you have done all of the above and squeezed your pimple to bloody death but the hardened clog inside your skin still isn't coming out, it's time to give up.

You can't force it out of your skin if it's not ready to come out. At this point, the more you try to squeeze the zit, the worse you will make it. Let it be a lesson to you that the kind of pimple you just attempted to pop but failed to pop is the kind of pimple that is not ripe enough to extract. It's the kind of pimple you should avoid squeezing in the future.

After you pop a pimple, it's normal for the pimple to ooze, bleed, turn red, swell up. They might even temporarily look bigger. At this point, you definitely have to leave it alone because you have shocked your skin enough.

Don't pick off the crystal-like scab that immediately forms. As tempting as it is to make your skin feel flat, your popped pimple needs this time to heal and recover. It's best to not pick at any scabs. Let them fall off on their own - it usually doesn't take long. Sometimes they fall off when you are taking a shower or washing your face and you don't even notice!
