SECRETS IN THE STAFF ROOM (A high school series)
EPISODE FIFTY EIGHT
The rehearsal hall was abuzz with activity as students were about, rehearsing their lines and perfecting their performances. Lila sat on a chair, script in hand, running through her scene with Soma, who approached her with a hint of reluctance. As they reached the climax of the scene, where their characters shared a heartfelt hug, Lila and Soma awkwardly embraced, their bodies stiff and unyielding.
'Come on, guys, let's get this right!' Mr Tunde called out, eyeing them critically.
' I want to see some genuine emotion!'
Lila and Soma exchanged a frosty glance, their mutual dislike obvious. They were supposed to be lost in the moment, but instead, they seemed to be counting down the seconds until the scene ended.
As they broke apart, Soma muttered under his breath, 'Can we just get this over with?' Lila shot him a sideways glance, her eyes flashing with annoyance.
'You're not like this, Soma,' Mr Tunde observed dryly. 'What's going on between you two?'
Lila and Soma exchanged another tense glance, the air thick with unspoken words. 'Nothing, sir,' Lila replied curtly, her voice dripping with insincerity.
Mr Tunde raised an eyebrow. 'Well, whatever it is, sort it out. We have a performance to give, and I won't have you two ruining it with your...whatever this is.' he said as he walked away from the current scene, his eyes scanning the area for something more intriguing. He strolled towards the next set of actors, wondering what they were working on. As he approached, his gaze met Ava who looked up, caught his eye before returning to her script.
Mr. Tunde's attention was then drawn to Ruth, who was standing a few feet away, observing the scene with a critical eye.
Actors rehearsed their lines, with Miss Chinwe, Mr Tunde and Ruth offering guidance. Time flew by, and before anyone knew it, the clock struck 1:00 PM. The intensity of the rehearsal began to wane, and the room exhaled a collecti
