EPISODE 3

Early the next morning

Sharon was seen at the back of their house, seated on a small wooden stool. Her eyes were fixed on the ground, but her mind was far away
 heavy with thoughts.
Little did she know Helen had been standing beside her, watching quietly.

Helen studied her sister’s face for a while
 the stress, the worry
 the silent pain.
Then she coughed lightly.

“Ahem
”

Sharon jumped slightly, snapping back to reality.

“Oh!” she said, placing her hand on her chest. “I didn’t know you were standing there.”

Helen sighed and moved closer.
“You’ve been sitting here for long,” she said softly. “What are you thinking about?”

Sharon forced a small smile.
“Nothing,” she replied quickly. “Just
 life.”

Helen shook her head.
“It’s never ‘nothing’ with you, Sister,” she said. “You carry everything alone.”

Sharon looked away.
“I’m fine,” she insisted. “Don’t worry about me.”

Helen sat down on a small stone beside her.
“But I will worry,” she said quietly. “You’re my sister.” This is our cross not just you alone, your worry is my worry and your win is our win.

There was a brief silence.

Then Helen spoke again

“Is it about the exam money?” Is it about Kingsley going back to school?

Sharon’s lips parted slightly
 but no words came out.
That alone was enough of an answer.

Helen sighed deeply.
“I told you to forget it,” she said. “I can always try next year.” I am going to work hard even if it is to clear 10 farms a day just to make Kingsley go back to school I'll do it.

“No!” Sharon said immediately, turning to her.
“You and Kingsley are my responsibility, I can't watch you work in the farm when your mates are in the university,” "You have tried so hard to save up for years, I won't let this year pass you by, she said firmly. “You’ve already sacrificed too much.”

Helen gave a sad smile.
“And what about you?” she asked. “What have you not done for us?”

That question hit differently.
Sharon went quiet.

Helen continued

“You stopped your own dreams just to take care of us,” she said. “How long will you keep doing this?” You are still in the village because of us, you're a graduate sister, stop using this excuse that mom and dad had the opportunity to take you to school that we your siblings must go to school, you have done your best sister, God knows that, Kingsley and I knows that. When are you going to pick up yourself and start leaving in your dreams?

Sharon swallowed hard.
“My dream is to provide for my family,” she replied.

Helen shook her head slowly, tears forming in her eyes.
“I don’t want this kind of life for” she whispered.

Sharon reached out and held her hand.

“And I don’t want this life for you either,” she said gently. “That’s why I’m fighting.”

Helen wiped her tears quickly.
“But how?” she asked. “Where will the money come from?”

Sharon hesitated

Then she spoke.

WELCOME TO KWIIN ROSEY STORIES âœđŸŒ

After a while, a thought flashed through Helen’s mind.

“Sister
” she called suddenly. “What about that your friend back in the university?”

Sharon frowned slightly, trying to remember.
“My friend?” she asked slowly.
She paused for a moment
then her eyes widened a little.
“
Peculiar?”

“Yes! Peculiar!” Helen said immediately, her face lighting up. “Why not ask her for help? She was so nice during our parents’ funeral.”

Sharon let out a short, dry laugh.
“Peculiar?” she repeated. “It’s been three years since I last heard from her. I stopped calling
and she did the same. Calling her now for help sounds
 weird.”

“Sister
” Helen adjusted her sitting position, her face turning serious.
“You’re not asking her for money,” she said firmly. “Just tell her you need a job. What if she has an opportunity?”

Sharon shook her head immediately.
“No,” she said. “Peculiar is a nice person, yes
 but I don’t think it’s right.”

Helen leaned closer.
“You said she stays in Lagos, right?”

Sharon hesitated.
“
I think so.”

Helen clapped her hands softly.
“That’s even better!” she said. “Sister, please call her. Tell her your situation.”

Sharon looked away, still unsure.

“A closed mouth is a closed destiny,” Helen added, her voice filled with urgency.
“We need help. If we don’t act fast
 we might not survive this.”

Those words hung heavy in the air.
Sharon swallowed hard.

“I still don’t think it’s a good idea,” she said quietly. “I can’t just leave you and Kingsley here.”

“Sister,” Helen said firmly, “Kingsley and I will be fine. Just call her first and hear what she has to say.”

Sharon sighed deeply, running her fingers through her hair.
“I can’t leave you two alone,” she insisted. “You and Kingsley only give me BP every day. The way you both fight, one day I’ll think something bad has happened to that boy.”

Helen rolled her eyes slightly.
“Sister, that’s not the issue right now,” she said. “Leave that one first. Just call her.”

Sharon remained silent.
Her heart was heavy.
Her pride
 her fear
 her responsibilities
all pulling her in different directions.

Helen reached for her hand.
“Please,” she said softly this time. “Do it for us.”

Sharon looked at her sister

Then slowly nodded.
“Okay
” she whispered.
Helen’s face lit up instantly.
“Call her now!” she said excitedly.
Sharon hesitated again
then reached into her wrapper and brought out her small phone.

Her hands trembled slightly as she scrolled through old contacts.
Then she found it.
Peculiar.
She stared at the name for a few seconds

Memories rushing back.
Laughter. School days. Friendship.
Then suddenly

Distance.

She took a deep breath

And dialed the number.
It rang once

Twice

Three times

Sharon’s heart was beating fast.
“Please pick up
” she muttered under her breath.
Then.......
Click.

“Hello?” Peculiar spoke from the other end.

Sharon froze.
Her throat went dry.

“
Hello?” the voice repeated.

Sharon finally found her voice.
“Peculiar
?” she called softly.

“Wait
 Sharon??”

Sharon’s eyes widened.
“
Yes.”

“Oh my God!” Peculiar exclaimed. “Sharon! After how many years?!”

Helen quickly moved closer, listening with excitement.

Sharon forced a small smile.
“It’s been a while,” she said.
“A while?” Peculiar laughed. “You disappeared! I even thought you forgot about me.” My phone was stolen so I misplaced your number.

Sharon’s smile faded slightly.
“I’m sorry
” she said quietly. I was going through a lot, in fact I'm still trying to balance life.

There was a short pause.
Then Peculiar’s voice softened.
“It’s okay,” she said. “Life happens. But I’m really happy you called.”

This was the moment.
Her fingers tightened around the phone.
“I
 I actually called because
” she began, her voice shaking slightly.

Helen held her hand tightly, encouraging her.

Sharon took a deep breath.
“I need your help.” I'm really suffering, I have no job, no money to care for my younger ones again.

Sharon burst into tears.
“Please
” she cried, her voice breaking. “If you can
please help me look for a job over there
 I’ll be grateful.”

There was silence on the other end for a few seconds.

Helen watched closely, her own eyes already watery.

Peculiar took a deep breath before responding.
“Sharon
” she said slowly, her tone now serious. “I’m really sorry
Lagos is tough. It’s not as easy as it looks.”

Sharon sniffed, trying to control her tears.

“I don’t have any opportunity right now that I can assure you,” Peculiar continued. “But I promise
I will try my best to look for something for you.”

Sharon nodded quickly, even though she couldn’t be seen.
“That will be better,” she said hurriedly. “Please don’t hesitate to call me when you find anything. I can work anywhere
 anything at all.”

“I understand,” Peculiar replied softly. “Just stay strong, okay?”

“I will,” Sharon whispered.

“Alright
I’ll get back to you soon,” Peculiar said.

“Thank you
” Sharon added faintly.
Then.......
The call ended.

Back in Lagos

Jide and Jennifer were living in the moment, completely lost in their world.
Jennifer spending the night had been
 unforgettable.

That morning, Jide sat on the couch wearing only his boxers, looking relaxed and satisfied.

Jennifer, dressed in her silky nightwear, rested her head gently on his broad chest.
The room was quiet

Filled with the memory of the night before.
Jide smirked, brushing his fingers lightly on her arm.

“Last night was something else,” he said with a playful tone.

Jennifer smiled faintly

But her mind was elsewhere.
Slowly, she lifted her head and looked at him.

“I have something to tell you,” she whispered.

Jide grinned and leaned in, trying to k!ss her

But Jennifer gently pushed him back.

“Jide
 let’s talk first,” she said.

Jide raised a brow, then sat upright, his expression turning a bit serious.

“Alright,” he said. “Go on
my first lady, the love of my soul.”

Jennifer smiled slightly
 then took a deep breath.
“I want us.”

Jide frowned.
“You want us?” he repeated, confused.

She nodded.
“Jide
I don’t want this to end,” she said softly. “I want all of you.”

Jide blinked, still not fully understanding.
“Okay
you already have all of me last night,” he replied casually.

Jennifer shook her head.
“No
I mean.....” she said, her voice more intense now. “I want you to be my boyfriend.”

There was a brief silence.

“I love you, Jide.”
For a second

Everything froze.

Then suddenly......
Jide burst into laughter.
He stood up, adjusting his boxers, shaking his head in disbelief.

“Jennifer
what are you saying?” he asked. “I thought we were just enjoying ourselves.” You said no strings attached.

Jennifer’s face tightened slightly.
“I know I said that before,” she replied. “But I’ve changed my mind.”

Jide ran his hand through his hair, pacing slightly.
“But why?” he asked. “Jennifer, I don’t do commitments.”
He stopped and faced her.
“Everything between us is just for pleasure. You enjoy me, I enjoy you. That’s it.”

Jennifer stood up slowly.
“I’m not asking for too much,” she said. “I can even share you
but I want you to be mine. I love you.”

Jide’s expression hardened immediately.
“Jennifer
 please leave.”

Her eyes widened in shock.
“What?” she asked. “You want me out because I said how I feel about you?”

Jide didn’t hesitate.
“Yes,” he said coldly. “It would’ve been better if you kept it to yourself.”
He picked up her clothes and threw them toward her.
“I was beginning to enjoy this,” he added. “You just ruined everything. I don’t want to see you again.”

Jennifer stood there, stunned.
Hurt.
Angry.
She quickly grabbed her clothes, her hands shaking.
“Fine!” she snapped. “Don’t come begging me later, okay? Fool!”

Jide smiles.
“I will never,” he replied.

Jennifer glared at him one last time

Then stormed out, slamming the door behind her.

The room fell silent.
Jide stood still for a moment

Then exhaled deeply.
“Love
” he muttered. “Nonsense.”
“I don’t have time for this,” he said.

Chidi adjusted his tie nervously as he stood in his office, his phone still in his hand.

“Okay sir” he muttered under his breath. “This man no dey ever rest
”

He sighed and walked away quickly to carry out the order.

Inside the office, Jide leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers lightly on the table. His face was calm, but his eyes held something deeper.
For a brief second
Linda’s tearful face flashed in his mind.
He scoffed.

“Women
” he muttered coldly. “Always emotional.” Always dramatic

Just then, his phone buzzed.
It was his mother.
Jide stared at the screen for a moment
 then declined the call.
“I don’t have the energy for another lecture this morning,” he said under his breath.

Meanwhile

In the village, the sun had barely risen when Sharon was already up, tying her wrapper tightly around her waist.
She stepped outside, carrying a small basket, ready to head to the farm.
Helen rushed out after her.

“Sister, wait!” she called.

Sharon turned.

“I will go with you today,” Helen said softly.

Sharon frowned slightly. “What about your studies?”

Helen forced a small smile. “What am I studying for again
 when there’s no exam money?”

Those words hit Sharon hard.
Her chest tightened, but she quickly masked it.

“Don’t say that,” Sharon said firmly. “You will write that exam.” I'm going to work hard and pay for your exam.

Helen shook her head slowly.
“You’ve been saying that for years, sister
”

Silence fell between them.
Then Kingsley suddenly appeared, rubbing his eyes.

“I will go too,” he said.

Sharon looked at both of them
 then sighed.
“Alright,” she said quietly. “Let’s go together.”
The three of them walked side by side, their shadows stretching long on the dusty road.
They had nothing

but they had each other.

Back in Lagos

Chidi walked into the reception area with a file in his hand.
“Alright, listen everyone,” he announced. “We are hiring a new personal assistant for Mr. Jide.”

The female staff exchanged glances immediately.

“Another one?” one whispered.

“What happened to Linda? Was she fired? That lady was so good at her job” another muttered.

"I heard she was having an affair with the boss, no one lectured her about Jide, I pity her! Another whispered.

Chidi cleared his throat. Okay, Enough!!! You all. Back to what I was saying.
“Qualifications are simple—competent, disciplined, and strictly professional.” Must be able to work under pressure
He paused, then added,
“And this time
 no nonsense.”

A few people chuckled quietly.

Just then, the office doors opened

And a young woman stepped in.
She was looking luxurious

With heavy makeup. flashy clothes.
Full of confidence and steez.
Her eyes were calm
 but determined.

“Good morning,” she said politely. “I want to see your boss"

Chidi looked up at her
and something about her made him pause.

“What’s your name?” he asked.
“Jennifer,” she replied.

Chidi’s brows lifted slightly.
“Jennifer
 what?”

Enough of this interrogation, tell your boss that his first lady wants to see him. She said, still maintaining her steez

Chidi nodded slowly.
“Alright, Miss Jennifer,” he said. I'll get back to you shortly.

Jennifer gave a small smile.

WELCOME TO KWIIN ROSEY STORIES âœđŸŒ PAGE

Chidi nodded and turned, heading straight to Jide’s office. First lady Ke?
He knocked.

“Come in.”

“Sir
there's a lady,” Chidi began carefully, “she insists on seeing you. Says she’s your
first lady.” Jennifer is her name.

Jide paused.

Then suddenly
A slow smile spread across his face.

“Send her in.”

Chidi raised a brow but said nothing as he stepped out.

Moments later

The door opened.
Jennifer walked in with confidence, her heels echoing softly against the floor.

When Jide saw her his expression changed completely.

“Jennifer
” he called, almost surprised.

A wide grin appeared on his face.
Without thinking, he stood up immediately and walked toward her.

“Wow
I didn’t expect to see you here.”
Jennifer smiled, dropping her bag casually.

“Missed me?” she asked playfully.
Jide didn’t even respond with words.

He pulled her closer and k!ssed her passionately.

For a moment

The office no longer felt like a workplace.
It felt like Abuja all over again.
When they finally pulled apart, Jennifer laughed softly.

“So
you do remember me,” she teased.

Jide smiled sheepishly.
“How can I forget?” he replied. “You made my stay in Abuja
 very interesting.”

Jennifer folded her arms.
“Interesting?” she repeated. “Is that all?”

Jide chuckled.
“Okay
more than interesting.” You took me over the moon 🌝

They both laughed lightly.

Jide walked back to his desk, leaning against it as he watched her.

“So what brings you to Lagos?” he asked.

Jennifer walked around the office slowly, admiring the space like she already belonged there.

“I came for you,” she said simply.
Jide raised a brow.

“For me?”

She stopped and faced him.
“Yes. I don’t like unfinished stories
and what we had in Abuja felt unfinished.”

Jide’s eyes darkened slightly with amusement.

“You’re bold,” he said. And I like that.

“I know,” she replied confidently.

There was a brief silence.

Then Jide shook his head with a soft laugh.“You haven’t changed.”

“Neither have you,” she shot back.
Their eyes locked for a moment

Filled with tension.
Memories.

Just then
A knock interrupted them.
Jide sighed, slightly annoyed.

“What is it?” he snapped.
Chidi opened the door halfway.
“Sir
 Your mom is here.”

Jide ran a hand through his hair.
“Fine. Give me five minutes.”

Chidi nodded and closed the door.

Jennifer picked up her bag.

“Mummy's boy,” she said lightly. I'll come back another time.

Jide stepped closer.

“You’re not leaving, are you?”

Jennifer smiled.

“I’ll be around,” she said. “After all
I didn’t come all this way for nothing.”

She walked toward the door, then paused.
“And Jide
”

He looked up.
“This time
I’m making you go crazy đŸ˜”â€đŸ’«.”

With that, she walked out.
Jide exhaled slowly, watching the door close

Jide exhaled slowly, watching the door close.

“Hmm
” he muttered, a faint smile playing on his lips as he adjusted his tie.

But that smile didn’t last long.
Almost immediately, his face hardened.

“My mother
” he said under his breath. “Not perfect timing.”

A few seconds later, the door opened again this time without a knock.

Mrs. Nnamdi walked in gracefully, but her presence carried authority.

“Jide,” she called, her voice firm.
Jide straightened instantly.

“Mom.” What are you doing here?

She looked around the office briefly before settling her sharp gaze on him.

Is that how you welcome your mother? By the way “I called you this morning,” she said.

“I was busy,” Jide replied calmly.

“Too busy to pick up your mother’s call?” she shot back.

Jide sighed lightly, walking past her.
“I’m at work, not at home. Can we not do this here?”

Mrs. Nnamdi moved closer, lowering her voice slightly.
“Then behave like you’re at work,” she said pointedly. “Because from what I just heard downstairs
you’re turning this office into something else entirely.”

Jide’s jaw tightened.

“People talk too much in this office, and I promise I'll fetch them out and punish them.”

“Do they?” she challenged. “Or are they simply telling the truth?” Why can't you be responsible for once, Jide?
She folded her arms her gaze fixed on him.
“I met a lady walking out of this place just now. Bold
 confident
shameless,” she said. “Is that the kind of woman you now entertain in your office?” So you have extended your wayward life into the office?

Jide let out a short laugh.
“Mom, please. Don’t start judging people you don’t even know.” Do you know if she's our potential client?

Client indeed, “I don’t need to know her to know trouble when I see one,” she replied sharply. That woman is not good for you!
She stepped closer.
“Jide, listen to me carefully. Your lifestyle will destroy you if you’re not careful.”

Jide turned away, clearly uninterested.
“I’m fine.” Mom, I enjoyed what I'm doing, I'm living my life, please đŸ„ș stop lecturing me, I'm a grown-up!

“No, you are not!” she snapped.
Her voice softened slightly.
“You push away your family
and surround yourself with the wrong ones.”

Jide chuckled dryly.
“Mom, I Love women! ” he repeated. “They make me happy?”
I love my life the way it is

©Kwiin rosey stories âœđŸŒ

Mrs. Nnamdi stared at him for a long moment

Disappointment clearly written all over her face.

“Is that what you call a life?” she asked quietly. “Moving from one woman to another? No direction
 no responsibility?”

Jide rolled his eyes slightly.
“Here we go again
”

She stepped closer, her voice firmer now.

“Listen to me, Jide. This is no longer just about your personal life.”

That got his attention.
He looked at her.
“What do you mean?”

Mrs. Nnamdi took a deep breath.
“Your father is not happy,” she said. “He’s been watching you
your behavior, your recklessness, your lack of seriousness.”

Jide’s expression tightened slightly.
“And?” he asked.

“And if you don’t change,” she continued slowly, “he will take this company from you.”

Jide froze.
“
What?”

“He will hand it over to your brother,” she added firmly. “And you will be left with nothing.”

The words hit hard.
For the first time

Jide didn’t have a comeback.
“You’re joking,” he said, but his voice lacked confidence.

“I am not,” she replied. “Your father is serious this time.”
Jide looked away, running a hand through his hair.

“You better wise up, Jide,” she warned. “Before it’s too late.”
Without waiting for his response, she turned and walked out.
The door closed.
And for a moment

The office felt too quiet.
Jide stood there, staring into space.

Her words echoed in his head.
“He will take this company from you
”
“You will be left with nothing
”

Jide felt something unfamiliar.
Fear.
Confusion.
But just as quickly

He shook it off.
“Impossible,” he muttered. “Dad can’t do that.”

Later that night

Jide sat alone in his living room, a glass of drink in his hand.
The house was quiet.
Too quiet.
His mother’s words kept replaying in his mind.
Frustrated, he dropped the glass on the table and grabbed his phone.
He scrolled

Then stopped.
Jennifer.
A slow smile crept onto his lips.
“Yeah
” he muttered. “I need a distraction.”
He dialed her number.
It rang once

Twice

Then......

“Hello?”
“Hey
 it’s me. Jide.”
A soft laugh came from the other end.

“Hmm
mummy’s boy,” Jennifer teased. “Good to hear from you tonight. I was just thinking about you.”

Jide smirked.
“Wow
I must be really lucky for a beautiful damsel to be thinking about me.”

“Maybe you are,” she replied playfully.

Jide leaned back.
“Why don’t you come over?” he said.

There was a slight pause.

“Hmmm
are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Jennifer asked, a smile in her voice.

Jide chuckled.
“I promise nothing is going to happen
 just a movie night.”

Jennifer laughed softly.
“Then I’m not coming,” she said bluntly. “I want more than that.”

Jide shook his head, smiling.
“I was just kidding,” he said. “I can’t wait to see you again
I want to relive those Abuja moments.”

Jennifer’s voice dropped slightly.
“Now you’re talking
”
“Send me your address,” she added. “I’m all yours tonight.”

Jide’s smile widened.
“Already sent.”
He hung up and leaned back.

Just like that

His mother’s warning faded into the background.
Pleasure over responsibility.
Same old Jide.

Later that evening

Chidi arrived at his girlfriend’s house, a small smile on his face despite how exhausted he looked.

The door opened, and Peculiar rushed out excitedly.

“Baby!” she squealed, jumping into his arms.

Chidi laughed softly, holding her close.

“Happy birthday, my love,” he said, handing over the gift bags.

Peculiar’s eyes widened.

“Ahhh! You bought all these for me?” she asked, clearly excited.

“Of course,” Chidi replied. “Only the best for my baby.”

She pulled him inside quickly, dropping the gifts on the table before hugging him again.
“You’re the best,” she said, smiling brightly.

After some time of laughter, food, and playful teasing

They both settled on the couch.
Peculiar noticed the change in his mood.

Chidi looked drained.
Completely exhausted.

She frowned slightly, turning to face him.

“Babe
what’s wrong?” she asked softly. “You look so tired.”

Chidi sighed deeply, leaning back.
“A lot of work today,” he muttered. “My boss fired his personal assistant.”

Peculiar’s brows furrowed.
“Why would he fire her?”

Chidi shook his head slowly.
“It’s a long story
”

Peculiar adjusted herself properly, facing him fully.
“I’m all ears. Tell me everything,” she said eagerly.

Chidi smiles faintly.
“You like aproko too much,” he teased.

Peculiar laughed.
“Yes na! That’s why you love me,” she replied playfully.

Chidi exhaled.
“I heard she was having an affair with the boss,” he said quietly. “And she’s not even the first. Once my boss sleeps with them
the next thing, he fires them.”

Peculiar’s eyes widened in shock.
“Ahhh! What kind of man is that?” she exclaimed. “Your boss must be very stupid. But some women sef
” she added, hissing dramatically.

Chidi nodded tiredly.
“Now we’re looking for a new personal assistant again,” he said.
“Do you have anyone you want to recommend?” Chidi asked.

“God forbid!” she said immediately. “I will never allow any of my close ones work for that your womanizer boss.”

Chidi chuckled weakly.
“Are they going there to sleep with him?” he asked. “Business is business.”

Peculiar shook her head stubbornly.
“Not under my watch,” she said firmly.

Chidi sighed and slowly stood up.
“Let me start going,” he said, stretching slightly.

Peculiar frowned.
“Ah ah, you’re not going home tonight oh. It’s already late,” she protested.

“I still have emails to reply,” Chidi replied. “And I need to be at work early tomorrow. Your place is far.”

Peculiar folded her arms.
“Hmmm
that your boss should not k!ll you with work oh,” she said. “Okay, goodnight.”

Chidi smiled faintly.
“Goodnight, my love.”

They shared a brief kiss

And Chidi drove out into the night.

“Jide! How many times have I warned you to stop this habit of drinking and womanizing?” Mr. Nnamdi thundered angrily. “Your mother and I did not raise you to become this useless!”

Jide scoffed, running a hand through his hair, completely unbothered.
“With all due respect, sir, I’m just having fun. Why is it so hard for you to let me live my life?” You have other children focus on them.

Kpuchie ÒnĂș “Shut that dirty mouth of yours!” Mrs. Nnamdi snapped, her eyes blazing with anger. “I will not sit here and watch you disrespect your father!”

She stepped closer, pointing a trembling finger at him.

“Jide, it is high time you settled down! You are not getting younger, and also Focus on the company instead of gallivanting all over Lagos like an abandoned project! Moving from one woman to another like an undisciplined animal, we trained you better than this!”

Jide let out a dry laugh, shaking his head.
“Mom, I am handling the company very well, I don't mix business with pleasure, you should applaud me for that. I’m doing my best, you know that!” His voice rose slightly. “But marriage? Me? Jide! That’s never happening. Not now, not ever.”
He picked up his car keys, already heading for the door.

“You have another son and a daughter. Let them worry about marriage. As for me I'm not interested.” I cannot be in a marriage and one day one woman would just k. Ill me because I'm not faithful, I can never be committed to one woman.

“Jide, I’m not done talking to you!” Mrs. Nnamdi shouted, rushing after him. Why can't you be committed?

But Jide didn’t look back.
He slammed the door hard behind him, the sound echoing through the house like a final statement.

Outside, the evening air was cool, but his anger burned hotter than ever.

As soon as Jide got home, Nancy—one of the many women in his life was already waiting patiently for him in the living room.
The moment he saw her, his face lit up with a mischievous smile.

“Nancy
” he called softly.
Without hesitation, he dropped his suitcase to the floor.
Nancy smiled, walking closer, her eyes filled with desire.
In one swift movement, Jide pulled her to himself, his hands wrapping firmly around her waist as he k!ssed her hungrily. She giggled softly, already used to his wild nature.

“Missed me?” she whispered.

“Always,” Jide replied, his voice low and teasing.

He lifted her effortlessly, and within seconds, they disappeared into his bedroom lost in a world of pleasure.

Meanwhile
 in the village

“Kingsley!” Helen screamed, grabbing him by his shirt tightly. “Where is the money I kept in my savings box?!”

“Leave me!” Kingsley struggled, trying to free himself. “How can you be keeping that kind of money when we are starving in this house?”

Helen’s eyes widened in shock and anger.
“So you stole my money?” she snapped. “The money I’ve been saving for years?!”
In a fit of rage, she removed her slippers and began hitting him.
“You th!ef! W!cked boy!” she cried as Kingsley shouted in pain, trying to dodge her blows.

Just then, Sharon their eldest sister—rushed into the room after hearing the commotion.

“What is going on here again?” she demanded, looking from one to the other in frustration.

“Sister!” Helen said quickly, almost in tears. “Kingsley stole my savings! The money I was keeping for my exam!”

“Sister, listen to me!” Kingsley cut in immediately. “Yesterday, you went out to look for a job. Helen went to lectures. There was no food, no money
 I was hungry!”
His voice cracked slightly.
“I thought
if I didn’t take the money, we might starve. Didn’t you eat the food I bought yesterday?” he asked, looking at Helen.

Helen raised her hand to hit him again, but Sharon quickly stepped in between them.
“Helen, stop!” she said firmly, holding her back.
Then her voice softened.

“I’m sorry
this is all my fault,” Sharon said, her eyes filling with tears. “If I had a job, none of this would be happening.”

“But sister
” Helen’s voice broke. “This is my exam money. I’ve been saving it for years. My mates are already in the university, and I’m still here trying to write this exam
 this is the third time!”
Sharon pulled her into a tight embrace.

“I know
I know,” she whispered. “But I promise you, once I get a job, I will make everything right. Anything you want, I will do it for you.”
She then turned to Kingsley, her expression turning serious.

“And you—never in your life touch what doesn’t belong to you again. Do you hear me?”
Kingsley lowered his head in shame.
“Yes, sister
” he muttered softly.

In the middle of the night, while Kingsley and Helen were fast asleep, Sharon lay awake, staring blankly into the darkness.
Sleep had completely abandoned her.
The weight of their situation pressed heavily on her chest, making it hard to breathe.
She turned slowly, looking at her siblings lying helplessly on the thin mattress.
Her heart ached.
She couldn’t provide for them.
No job.
No money.
No hope.
Most days, they barely had one proper meal.
To survive, she worked tirelessly on the farm, earning just a little token—never enough, but still something.
Tears gathered in her eyes as painful memories flooded back.
Their parents had died in a tragic car accident just a few years ago
and ever since then, life had never remained the same.

Her uncle had come shortly after their death and packed away everything their father had worked so hard to build.
Everything.
Sometimes
 Sharon couldn’t help but wonder

Was it really just an accident?
Or was her uncle somehow involved?

She shook her head, trying to push the thought away, but it lingered like a shadow she couldn’t escape.
Even though the same uncle had asked them to come and live with him, Sharon refused.
She chose to stay back
 to struggle
to suffer—just to keep her siblings close and safe.

Tears slipped quietly down her cheeks.
“How will I survive this?” she whispered to herself.
Her voice trembled.
“How will I take care of my siblings?”
She looked over at Helen.

“Helen is supposed to be in the university by now
” she murmured painfully. “She has been trying to write this exam for years
”
Her gaze shifted to Kingsley.
“And Kingsley
” her voice broke, “he has already stopped going to school because I can’t afford his fees.”
She buried her face in her hands.
“No job
 no help
 nothing
” she cried softly.
The silence of the night swallowed her pain, but her heart screamed louder than ever.
For the first time in a long while

Sharon felt completely helpless.

Back in the busy city of Lagos, Jide woke up early the next morning.
He got dressed for work like nothing had happened the night before.
After dropping Nancy off at her place, he drove straight to the office.

As soon as he arrived, the atmosphere changed.
The staff greeted him with respect almost like royalty.

“Good morning, sir.”
“Welcome, sir.”

Jide simply nodded, his usual cold expression firmly in place, as he walked straight into his office.
A few minutes later, a knock came on the door.

“Come in,” he said without looking up.
The door opened, and an angry, young, beautiful woman stormed in.

“Sir,” she said sharply, throwing a letter onto his desk, “Chidi gave me this. What is the meaning of this?”

Jide glanced at the letter briefly, then leaned back in his chair, completely unbothered.

“Miss Linda,” he said calmly, “I believe you can read. It clearly states that your services are no longer needed in this company.”

Linda froze, her eyes burning with anger.
“Why?” she demanded, adjusting her skirt as she walked slowly toward him. “One minute, you’re all over me
and the next, you’re firing me?”

"No, you were over me, you opened and I entered! Jide replied. You were my staff you should have maintained that.

Jide, I thought we were becoming serious with each other, Linda said in frustration.

Jide’s gaze darkened as he studied her.
“You get it now, don’t you?” he said coldly. “I cannot have a personal assistant I’ve been involved with. It’s unprofessional.”

“But you wanted me!” Linda snapped, her voice shaking with emotion.

Jide let out a low, mocking laugh.
“No,” he corrected. “You wanted me
and I gave you what you wanted.”
He leaned forward slightly.

“This is a business environment, not a nightclub. When I’m here, I don’t tolerate distractions and right now, you are a big one.”

Tears gathered in Linda’s eyes.
“Please, Jide
I’m begging you,” she said, her voice breaking. “I need this job. My family depends on me.”

Jide’s expression didn’t change.

“You should have thought about that before crossing the line,” he replied coldly. “I tried to resist you, Linda. I knew you were good at your job though good at the other side
but clearly, that wasn’t what I wanted.”
He smirked slightly, his words cutting deep.
“And now here we are.”

“Jide!” Linda shouted, tears falling freely. “You told me you loved me!”

Jide burst into a dry laugh.

“And you believed me?” he said harshly. “I’ve said those words to more women than I can count.”
His voice turned colder, sharper.
“Now you know the truth I don’t care about you. So take your things
 and leave my office.”

Linda stepped back slowly, her heart shattered.
“Jide
God will judge you,” she said weakly before turning and walking out.
The door closed behind her.

Silence.........

As if nothing had happened, Jide picked up his phone.

“Chidi,” he said flatly, “get me a new personal assistant. Immediately.”
