Hey guys, I took down my 5 weeks old braids today and decided to do my favourite treatment which is the Henna gloss.. Lol, I love Henna so much, it's one of my best Ayurveda.. The ingredients I used for the mixture are:
π£Henna: I prefer henna to egg protein ( albumin) because it has an affinity for Keratin (hair protein), it fills up the gaps in the hair cuticles, it reduces hair shedding, it improves the health of the follicles and many more.........................................................
π£Aunt Jackie's intensive conditioning mask (the flaxseed range) from Natural Hair Avenue - NHA for extra hydration and slip.......................................................
π£Honey: this is my favorite humectant (attracts moisture).....................................................
π£Peppermint oil from Natural Hair Avenue - NHA which increases hair growth by stimulating blood circulation..................................................
π£ Ahgoziemnaturals growth oil (I'll tell you guys about this goodness later) from : it increases hair growth, adds slip, stimulates the scalp etc

Hey guys.. It's been a while... I've been really busy lately but I promise to post an article here at least once every week..
HAIR POROSITY π
WHAT IS HAIR POROSITY? Porosity is your hair's ability to absorb moisture and is broken down into three categories: low, normal and high.
I heard this for the first time during my year one in this journey and I came to understand that it was not just all about knowing the porosity of my hair, it was more like knowing the kind of products that my kind of porosity would love.. In my last post, I told you guys how I tried out different products to know which my hair was in love π with.
MY HAIR POROSITY :When I did my hair porosity test, I found out that mine was LOW which means my hair absorbs water slowly and loses water fast.
PRODUCTS FOR DIFFERENT POROSITY CATEGORIES
-Low porosity-
If you have low porosity, it means your cuticles are a little tight and pretty resistant to receiving water and moisture. The strand floated at the top of the glass because water couldn't get inside of it and weigh it down, forcing it to sink. Those with low porous hair cannot absorb products easily either. To get moisture to pe*****te the hair, you should use products containing more alkaline ingredients that will help lift your cuticles. Avoid using products with a low pH because high acidity works to keep the cuticle closed. Need extra moisture? Steamers are an excellent way to help lift the cuticle to get moisture to your hair. When setting styles, always try to start on damp hair and avoid overusing oils and butters. Because I belong to this category, I use products that's hydrates my hair like Cantu, Moroccan argan oil hydrating sleek, moisturizing oils (olive oil and coconut oil are my favorite).
High porosity:
If your strand sank, itβs likely riddled with gaps, tears and openings that allowed water to easily flow in, quickly sinking the strand to the bottom. If you think your hair absorbs products quickly but loses the moisture just as fast, you may have high porous hair. If this is your case, try using butter and oils to help lock in moisture your strands naturally easily lose. Also, rinsing your hair regularly using an apple cider vinegar mix, and applying aloe vera gel and protein treatments to temporarily fill gaps can help manage high porous hair. There is no way to completely repair high porous hair, but you can try by using these quick and easy tips
Normal porosity
Normal porosity means you're not in the red! π€When your hair has normal porosity, it holds moisture and shine for an extended period of time. Clearly, most natural women would love to have this hair type but many are unaware that hair of normal porosity can change. If you use heat often, relax your hair or chemically process it in some way, your hair porosity can change over time. Be sure to stick to a healthy hair care regimen to maintain the normal porosity of your hair.
The picture below shows a direction of how to check the porosity of your hair.....π€π€π
I hope this helps... Drop your questions and suggestions... See you guys next Friday..
May you glow as your fro grows..

I'm so sorry guys for not coming through when I was supposed to... Guess what! I'll give you the important details you need about my journey. I've been getting questions about my natural hair journey ; The products I use, how I use them, my natural hair regimen, the protective styles I do and all. I would've made a video but I'm yet to get a good camera for my YouTube videos. I've been natural for almost two years and I've loved every part of it. I used part of first year in this journey to get the products my hair loves.. I tried out a bunch of them.... The ones with natural and artificial ingredients... When I found out the ones I hair loves, I got them all and I still use them.
1.Products I use.
A. Cantu products are my hair's best friend.. I use Cantu leave in conditioner, deep treatment mask, conditioning Co-wash and rinse out conditioner. These 4 products work magic on my hair. I can't do my wash routine without them...
B. Oils- the oils I use are heavy oil, light oils and moisturizing oils. These oils keep the health of my hair alive and bring about healthy growth. They are; Jamaican black castor oil (this stimulates growth and gives your hair volume), coconut oil.,olive oil, Rose Mary oil, jojoba oil, argan oil, tea tree oil, vitamin E oil, lavender oil, DIY aloe Vera oil, DIY peppermint oil, DIY carrot oil, DIY moringa oil etc.
C. Apple cider vinegar- this product has helped me prevent dandruffs and also I use it to balance the phone of my ph of my hair since its acidic.
D. Black soap- this is one of the most important products I use. I use AhgoziemNaturals black soap and this has slot of oils and nutrients which has helped my hair to retain moisture. I rarely use shampoo on my hair( it strips my hair it's natural oils and the normal bacteria which helps in hair growth thereby leaving it dry at the end of my wash routine).
D. Curl enhancers and edge controls- I have Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie, Lotta body style me, Eco styler gel, Jamaican black castor oil edge control (I have these products but I rarely use them, they are my favorite curl products)..
E. Tea rinse- I use caffeine based tea(lipton or coffee) and panthenol based tea (green tea). Black tea (Lipton) reduces shedding and breakage and green tea prevents split ends.
2. Protective styles- as a naturalista you need to accept it that you can't make all the hair styles you used to make when you were still getting perms (you can't eat your cake and have it girlπ). The PS you make and the stylist are very important here... I advise my clients that don't live in the same city with me to get a good natural hair stylists for their hair. Wrong PS is equal to bad scalp and edges. I'll list a bunch of PS for naturalistas
A. Twists and braids
B. Weaves- there are lovely weaves out there you can use to protect your hair... Thank God for closures and frontals so don't allow any stylist to use glue on your hair.
C. Wigs
D. Cornrows
E. Box braids- this is one of my favs
F. Crochet- this is what comes to my mind when I hear protective style... I rocked it well, make it well and I'm still going to keep rocking it....
G. African threading. Etc
3. Hair regimen
This is a planned routine for my hair..... I write them down and paste on my wall close to my bed. It reduces laziness towards your hair and makes you take your natural hair journey seriously.
These are my routine;
A. Wash every two weeks ( I wash my hair with ahgoziemnaturals black soap)
B. Deep condition every 2wks ( I do this with my Cantu deep treatment mask after washing with my black; I section my hair in six parts, apply the mask on each part well and cover with a plastic bag and my shower cap.... Then, I wear my thermal steam cap and steam my hair for 1 and half hour and rinse it off with warm water, after this I apply my Cantu rinse out conditioner which I cover with my shower cap for 5mins, then rinse off... After this I seal the moisture with ahgoziemnaturals Shea butter mix.
C. Tea rinse- like I said, I do this rinses to reduce shedding and split ends. I rinse my hair with them immediately Im done washing with my black soap.
D. Apple cider vinegar rinse- I do the once a month to treat dandruffs and also balance my hair ph
E. Massage every night- I do this by apply Jamaican black castor oil on my scalp then I massage with my massaging brush or my fingers...( this stimulates blood flow there by promoting hair growth
F. Loc every night- locked means liquid, oil as ND cream.. This is the best way to moisturize. First of all I spray water which is the liquid then I apply a light oil (it can be coconut oil or olive oil) from ends to root the detangle with my fingers...( stay away from combs and brushes a bit cos they regular use of them lead to breakage and split ends), followed by cream ( preferably shea butter or Ahgoziemnaturals whipped Shea butter).
Hey guys... I'm going to stop here, I'm exhausted ππππ€£.. Please make sure you ask me questions...
So, I'll be expecting your questions....
