The Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ

Revelation 1:8 (AMPC), “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord God, He Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty (the Ruler of all).”



The Book of Revelation is a prophetic book, penned by the Apostle John, concerning what he saw in a series of visions, while he was in exile on the island of Patmos. He was instructed to write down what he saw - things that must take place just before, during, and after the second coming of Jesus Christ. In essence, the Book of Revelation is the unveiling of the just and merciful character of God, even for those who are unsaved - giving them on-going opportunities to receive eternal life through His Son. In Revelation 1:19, John is told to, “Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.” This verse is a summary of the entire book of Revelation. In chapter 1, John records what he sees in heaven - it’s radiance and glory, and the resurrected Christ! In chapters 2 and 3, he records the things that are on earth with regards to the 7 categories of churches that exist in the current church age. In chapters 4 and 5, John is taken up to heaven again. In chapters 6-18 it describes the 7 years of tribulation, where God’s judgement is poured out on unbelievers and those who have rejected Him. Chapter 19 speaks of Jesus’ 2nd coming; chapter 20, the 1000-year millennial reign, the lake of fire and the Great White Throne Judgement. Chapters 21-22 speak of the new heaven and new earth - where the devil is no longer a part of the world, and God and His children live together in His blessing and peace, for eternity. While the only indication of where we are, with regards to the God’s end time timeline, is the signs - recorded in Scripture - we are told to look out for. All of which have already and are currently taking place. This should alert an urgency in every believer to live right, to be busy doing the will of God, and to reach as many people as possible for His kingdom. Use the time we have left to draw near to the Lord and live in the fullness of victory and faith Jesus paid for us to enjoy. And continue to look up - because our time of redemption draws near!

John 1:14 (TPT): "And so the Living Expression became a man and lived among us! And we gazed upon the splendor of His glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father overflowing with tender mercy and truth!"

We have glorious opportunities to encounter God daily! Even though we don't get to experience Jesus in the physical like the disciples did, we get to experience His tangible presence by His Holy Spirit, who lives within us. The Holy Spirit is the living expression of Jesus Christ, who is the living expression of God the Father! John 1:1 says Jesus is the Word; so the more we gaze upon the Word, we gaze upon who Jesus is. The Holy Spirit reveals Jesus to us and causes His mercy and truth to be the reality that we enjoy. We have not been called to only encounter the goodness, tenderness, mercy, and truth of God once-in-a-while. We are to encounter the Person of Jesus daily, by beholding Him in the light of His Word. Seeing and experiencing Jesus this way is what transforms us, one degree at a time, into His very image and nature. That's because the truth of Who He is so impresses and influences our hearts and minds, it literally changes us from the inside out! His influence on us becomes reflected in the way we see ourselves and others, and act according to the kindness and love we've personally received from Him. Be changed by His kindness today.
