Dos and Don't of face cleansing

The skin has a very important job of protecting the body from infections and germs, and it's the largest part of your body, so it is important to take care of it properly. Different parts of the body require different cleaning techniques, the best way to take care of your skin is to cleanse it twice daily.

1. To find the right cleanser for your skin, it is important to determine your current skin type. Did you know that your skin can change type, this could be due to change in weather, or age.

Normal skin is not too oily and not too dry, with minimal blemishes and no severe sensitivity to products or weather.

Oily skin often appears shiny or greasy, even if you recently washed your face. Oily skin is also prone to blemishes and larger pores.

Dry skin is often flaky, with more visible lines and some reddish patches on the skin.

Sensitive skin is often mistaken for dry skin because it typically appears dry and red; this skin react a lot to harsh products or changes in products and environment.

Combination skin is when you have patches of skin that are oily in some areas and dry or normal in others. Combination skin is typically oily around the T-zone (the T-shaped area created by your forehead, nose, and chin) and normal to dry on the rest of the face.

2. Use clean hands to apply your face cleanser to avoid spreading germs all over your face.

3. Even if your skin looks clean, it’s probably not. It is very important to cleanse your face every morning and every night before bed, especially if you wear makeup or are prone to acne.

4. Don’t use too hot or too cold water as this can damage your skin and trap grease and dirt inside your pores. Use like warm water instead.
Gently massage your face in slow, circular motions. Don't scrub!
Treat the skin around your eyes with extra care as it is the most delicate, sensitive skin on your face.

5. Get soft skincare brushes. These can be manual or oscillating brushes that you squeeze your cleanser or a mild scrub into before gently rubbing the brush on your face.

6. Rinse your face with lukewarmness water.

7. Pat your face dry with a clean towel. Do not dry your skin with a dirty hand towel in the bathroom or the same towel you use to dry off your body. If you have been doing that then all your skin care routine has been a waste of time. By doing so you have just transfer new, fresh bacteria onto your clean face once again.
Which will lead to more breakouts on your skin.

9. Apply your toner. Incase you don't know, Toner is part of the cleansing process, it's kind of like a live in cleanser, which goes into the pores to remove the impurities there. If you have not been doing this, know that you have not been cleansing your skin properly.

8. Apply moisturizer to your face to seal in the existing water in your skin so it doesn’t evaporate. Someone once said that cleansing without moisturizing is like bathing and not putting on any clothes. Can you go out naked after bathing? If not then always dress your skin up by moisturizing after cleansing.
