NOBODY TALKS ABOUT THIS BUT WE SHOULD:
MALARIA VS TYPHOID
๐In most settings, people are treated for both at once ("Malaria+Typhoid"), but: THIS IS NOT BEST PRACTICE โ
โ ๏ธAlways confirm with proper Lab test before treatment.
Malaria:
๐ Malaria is caused by mosquito bite.
Symptoms include:
๐ High fever ๐ค (which comes and goes)
๐Chills and sweating ๐ฅ

COMMON MISTAKES DURING MALARIA TREATMENT(cont'd)
COMMON MISTAKES DURING MALARIA TREATMENT
1. Stopping medication early
Feeling significantly better by day 2 and deciding you don't need the remaining is an ERROR โโโ
HERE'S WHY๐
The drug has killed the "weak"parasites, but the "strong"ones remain.
If you stop early, these survivors multiply, the malaria returns (often more severe), and you contribute to drug resistance ๐ฅบ
2.PRESUMPTIVE TREATMENT (treating every fever ๐ฅต as malaria without diagnostic test). ERROR โโโ
HERE'S WHY ๐
You might actually have typhoid, meningitis or other infections.
Taking antimalarials for these, doesn't help ๐ฅฑ and delays the correct ๐ฏ treatment for the actual underlying illness.
3.IGNORING FOOD REQUIREMENTS โ ๏ธ
Many antimalarials specifically Artemether-Lumefantrine, are fat-soluble.
Taking the medication on empty stomach or only water ๐ฆ is an ERROR โโโ
HERE'S WHY ๐
Without small amount of fatty food, the body cannot properly absorb the Lumefantrine component.
The result?
The drug is present but not strong enough to kill all the parasites๐ฟ๐ฟ
4. "MONOTHERAPY"(single-drug treatment)
The WHO has banned the use of oral artemisinin as a single drug(monotherapy)
Using only one type of drug (like only artesunate or chloroquine in areas of high resistance) is an ERROR โโโ
ALWAYS USE ๐
Combination therapy (ACT)
Your health is too important, stop ๐ trivializing it.
