NOBODY TALKS ABOUT THIS BUT WE SHOULD:

MALARIA VS TYPHOID

๐Ÿ›‘In most settings, people are treated for both at once ("Malaria+Typhoid"), but: THIS IS NOT BEST PRACTICE โ—

Symptoms include:
๐Ÿ‘‰ High fever ๐Ÿค’ (which comes and goes)
๐Ÿ‘‰Chills and sweating ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
๐Ÿ‘‰ Headache ๐Ÿคฏ
๐Ÿ‘‰ Body weakness ๐Ÿ˜“
๐Ÿ‘‰ Vomiting ๐Ÿคฎ

Treatment:
๐Ÿ‘‰Antimalarials

Preventions:
๐Ÿ‘‰Use insecticide treated nets
๐Ÿ‘‰ Clean your environment

Typhoid:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Typhoid is caused by contaminated food, water or drinks.
Symptoms include:
๐Ÿ‘‰ High and persistent fever ๐Ÿค’
๐Ÿ‘‰ Abdominal pain.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Diarrhoea or constipation.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Weakness.
๐Ÿ‘‰Loss of appetite.

Treatment:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Antibiotics

Preventions:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Drink clean water.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Proper hand washing.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Eat well cooked food.

DO PROPER TEST BEFORE TREATMENT
YOUR HEALTH MATTERS!

COMMON MISTAKES DURING MALARIA TREATMENT(cont'd)

02/04/2026

COMMON MISTAKES DURING MALARIA TREATMENT
1. Stopping medication early

Feeling significantly better by day 2 and deciding you don't need the remaining is an ERROR โŒโŒโŒ

HERE'S WHY๐Ÿ‘‡
The drug has killed the "weak"parasites, but the "strong"ones remain.
If you stop early, these survivors multiply, the malaria returns (often more severe), and you contribute to drug resistance ๐Ÿฅบ

2.PRESUMPTIVE TREATMENT (treating every fever ๐Ÿฅต as malaria without diagnostic test). ERROR โŒโŒโŒ

HERE'S WHY ๐Ÿ‘‡
You might actually have typhoid, meningitis or other infections.
Taking antimalarials for these, doesn't help ๐Ÿฅฑ and delays the correct ๐Ÿ’ฏ treatment for the actual underlying illness.

3.IGNORING FOOD REQUIREMENTS โš ๏ธ
Many antimalarials specifically Artemether-Lumefantrine, are fat-soluble.
Taking the medication on empty stomach or only water ๐Ÿ’ฆ is an ERROR โŒโŒโŒ

HERE'S WHY ๐Ÿ‘‡
Without small amount of fatty food, the body cannot properly absorb the Lumefantrine component.

The result?
The drug is present but not strong enough to kill all the parasites๐Ÿ‘ฟ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

4. "MONOTHERAPY"(single-drug treatment)
The WHO has banned the use of oral artemisinin as a single drug(monotherapy)

Using only one type of drug (like only artesunate or chloroquine in areas of high resistance) is an ERROR โŒโŒโŒ

ALWAYS USE ๐Ÿ‘‡
Combination therapy (ACT)

Your health is too important, stop ๐Ÿ›‘ trivializing it.

BEFORE YOU TAKE THAT PILL ๐Ÿ’Š READ THIS ๐Ÿ‘‡

โœ…Don't stop medicine too early.
๐Ÿ‘€ Stopping too early can lead to drug resistance and relapse.

โœ… Don't share your medicine with someone else.
๐Ÿ‘‰What works for you may harm someone else.

โœ… Don't drink or use expired drugs
๐Ÿ‘‰ They may lose potency or become unsafe.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Always check expiry date of any medicine ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ’Š

โœ… Some pills are designed for slow release. Crushing them can result in irritation.

โœ… Don't ignore side effects
๐Ÿ‘‰ Report symptoms like rashes, dizziness or swelling, immediately.

โœ… Medicine is best swallowed with CLEAN WATER ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ
๐Ÿ‘‰ Avoid taking your medicine with:
Soft drink ๐Ÿท
Energy drinks โ˜•๐Ÿผ๐Ÿงƒ
Milk ๐Ÿฅ› (for some antibiotics)

โœ… Keep all medicine OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.

โš ๏ธโš ๏ธโš ๏ธ YOUR HEALTH IS TOO IMPORTANT, DON'T LEAVE IT TO GUESS ๐Ÿ™.
