One thing that makes or breaks a wig in my opinion is the hairline.
Pic 1: unedited pic. The hairline looks natural and the hair appears to be growing straight out of my scalp 🙌🏽
Pic 2: I've highlighted the outline of the lace. And if you look close enough at my part you can see my wig cap coz my lazy ass couldn't ve bothered melting it down 😂
Pic 3: TB of a heavily edited pic of a synthetic wig. The hairline is blunt, heavy and fake as hell.

Part 2: I have 2 goals.
🎯Goal #1 is to normalise wigs & wig wearing in Aotearoa. Kiwis have no idea how fkn cool they are, how dramatically they can change an entire look ❤️🔥
🎯Goal #2 is to make them easily accessible. Flood the market & drive the cost down ⬇️
Creating a network of talented wig makers and sharing thier work is one of many ways i plan to achieve my goals.
Which brings me to this fire unit im wearing, made by an amazing wig maker from the US, 🔥
Watch out for my next few posts where I'll be sharing more about including a review on her awesome units 🤎✌🏽

Part 1: I've been wearing/selling/loving lace frontals (wigs) for around 5 years now.
I started by selling synthetics for fashion purposes. You may remember the festi braids a couple of years back 🦄. It was so much fun but to be honest, it wasn't fulfilling. At all.
I purposely avoided targeting women who suffered from hair loss because I was scared to disappoint them. I knew my products wouldn't do them any justice and Im not ok with making money off the backs of vulnerable women.
The thing is they followed naturally anyway. They were still buying my synthetic wigs.
If you know anything about this particular community, especially in Aotearoa, then you'd know how ridiculously expensive human hair wigs are. How outdated they are. How inaccessible. So I stopped. I upskilled and learnt how to make customised human hair lace frontals from one of the best wig makers in the world and I figured out how to remove barriers to accessibility.
Now here we are.

Let's chat wig construction.
Whenever I tell someone I make wigs they usually reply with surprise. It's a mix between "wow" and "how".
I'm not gonna lie, there are lots of steps and each step can be tricky to master but once you've got it, you wonder why you found it so difficult to begin with.
My wigs consist of hair wefts, hand stitched lace frontals or closures and a cap, that's it (check out pic 3 for a close up of the lace - you cut this bit off so the lace camouflages with your skin).
Altering the cap to fit and the customising lace to make the hair appear as if it's growing from your scalp are the 2 most important wig components to get right. They are quite literally the key to a realistic wig.
My dream is to flood our market with wig makers in order to drive the cost of wigs right down. Watch this space ❤️

Some amazing and courageous wāhine sharing their stories.
Aotearoa is seriously behind when it comes to human hair wigs in so many ways, and it's unfair that beautiful wāhine living with alopecia have to wait for us to catch up.
Watch Sunday CROWNING GLORY | TVNZ OnDemand In an age of social media influencers and selfies, society has never placed more importance on how we look. White teeth, clear skin, beautiful hair.
