What is palmoplantar keratoderma?
‘Keratoderma’ is a term that means marked thickening of the epidermis of the skin.

‘Palmoplantar’ refers to the skin on the soles of the feet and palms of the hands; these are the areas keratoderma affects most often. Palmoplantar keratoderma is also sometimes known as ‘keratosis palmaris et plantaris’.

Classification of keratodermas depends on whether it is inherited or acquired, and the clinical features.

Diffuse keratodermas affect most of the palms and soles.
Focal keratodermas mainly affect pressure areas.
Punctate-type keratoderma results in tiny bumps on the palms and soles.
Most often the abnormal skin involves only the palms and soles (non-transgradient palmoplantar keratoderma) but sometimes it extends on to the top of the hands and feet as well (transgradient).
In some rare syndromic forms of keratoderma other organs in the body may be affected in addition to the skin, and the keratoderma can be a marker of this internal abnormality.

Papular acrodermatitis of childhood is a characteristic response of the skin to viral infection in which there is a papular rash that lasts for several weeks.

Other names used for this skin condition include Gianotti-Crosti syndrome, papulovesicular acrodermatitis of childhood, infantile papular acrodermatitis, and acrodermatitis papulosa infantum.

Folliculitis keloidalis, also called folliculitis keloidalis nuchae (FKN), is a chronic scarring folliculitis of the occipital scalp. It mostly affects men of African-Caribbean descent with black curly hair.

Folliculitis keloidalis is commonly called acne keloidalis nuchae (AKN), although the condition is not related to acne vulgaris, and the scars formed are not true keloid scars. Dermatitis papillaris capillitii is another synonym.

What is rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that is characterized by red patches and small, red, pus-filled bumps on the face. Rosacea typically appears in cycles on your nose, cheek and foreheads. Rosacea may flare up for a few weeks or months and then go into remission for a period.

Rosacea affects more than 16 million Americans. Although there is not a cure, your symptoms can be treated.

Types of rosacea
There are four types of rosacea:

Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR)

ETR also known as subtype one, is characterized by facial redness, visible blood vessels and flushing
Papulopustular (acne)

Papulopustularalso known as subtype two rosacea, appears like acne and occurs most frequently in middle-aged women.
Rhinophyma

Rhinophyma, or subtype three rosacea, is a characterized by thickening skin on and around the nose. Rhinophyma most often affects men.
Ocular rosacea

Ocular rosacea, also known as subtype four rosacea, is characterized by redness, swelling on and around the eye.
