Sebaceous hyperplasia is a common, skin condition of sebaceous glands or enlargements of sebaceous glands in the skin. They occur principally in middle aged and older adults. Their growth is associated with exposure to different androgen hormones and sun. This explains why sebaceous hyperplasia is seen more commonly in men than in women, but it is still seen in all people.

Lesions of sebaceous hyperplasia are benign, with no known potential for malignant transformation. However, the lesions are sometimes confused with early basal cell carcinomas. With its characteristic mosaic appearance, the surface of sebaceous hyperplasia is generally less uniform than that of basal cell carcinomas.
