Sharing some general recommendations and knowledge for exfoliation based on skin types! Hopefully this is is useful for you guys ☺️

📌 What is exfoliation?
A skin-care technique where dead skin cells are removed from the top layer of your skin. It helps to brighten your complexion, and let your skincare products pe*****te deeper into your skin (making them work better). This is important since your skin’s natural ability to shed dead skin cells slows down as you age, which can lead to duller-looking skin.

📌 𝗗𝗼'𝘀:

1. Exfoliate at night to let your skin heal while you sleep
A fresh layer of skin is revealed after exfoliation which means your skin is now vulnerable and sensitive. If you exfoliate during the day, your skin is more prone to sun damage than usual.

2. Apply SPF in the day
Especially important for post-exfoliation. Your skin will remain sensitive to the sun’s harmful UV rays for a few days after exfoliating, so it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

3. Continue applying your AM & PM skincare regime
This will ensure you restore your skin’s moisture barrier and it will keep your skin from drying out. Recommend not to use AHAs/BHAs and Vitamin C together!

4. Consult a dermatologist if you're ensure which type of exfoliation is more suitable for you.

📌 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁𝘀:

1. Over-exfoliate
Can result in permanently damage to your skin’s barrier function which serves to protect it from the elements and prevent moisture loss. Stick to exfoliating just 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸, and definitely do not exfoliate every day.

2. Avoid exfoliation if you have:
Recently undergone any type of laser treatments or chemical peel facial
Any kind of cut or open wound on your skin
An infection on your face like a cold sore (it'll spread!) or sunburn.
Moisturizer and TLC is more what your skin needs during those times.

3. Apply too much pressure
Especially when you’re physical exfoliation. Be cautious and listen to your skin and how it’s reacting, and always be as gentle as you can. There is no reason to exert pressure or scrub vigorously to exfoliate effectively, and this can actually lead to micro-tearing.
