i’ll be putting a pause on the apothecary for the next 2-3 years as i’m relocating overseas.

this year has been a busy one as i’m getting married & have been planning to move so it’s been a lot.

thank you so much for your support for the last 3 years.

it’s been so meaningful to help you with your skin/bodycare journey & routines.

i’ve appreciated your feedback & your words of encouragement so much.

hearing how the apothecary’s products helped your skin has brought me so much joy & satisfaction.

i can’t wait to be back & continue formulating products for you again, in a couple of years.

in the meantime, I hope you all stay safe & take care.

how’s everyone’s January going so far? mine has been manic & i’ve noticed how much worse i feel when i don’t take care of my skin! it’s as if my body is forcing me to pamper myself 🥲 the same applies to when i’m too tired but want to push myself to do a strength training workout when what i really need is a good yoga session. listening to my body has never failed me - but it’s been a journey in trying to understand it without any sense of shame or guilt in not working myself ‘harder’.

here’s to you finding the clarity to understand what your mind & your body need to feel soothed & calm. much like how a whipped body butter may make you feel 🤤💜

omg 4 months since my last post! 💀 the apothecary is still alive but in order to make sure i remained alive (😅), i had to reduce my apothecarying to focus on my full-time job.

i hope you’re all well! just an FYI that the website will be closed to orders from next week the 2nd of nov till end of nov as i’ll be travelling. but i’m just a DM away if you’d like to ask me anything ✨

rose & saffron; i just sent out an order of the rose & saffron facial oil today, to a lovely customer who places so much trust in my facial oils that she’s ordered them thrice.

this facial oil is luxurious & decadent. it strengthens your skin, repairs it & even our your skin tone. 4 drops are all you need ✨🌹

the lavender-infused oil is a very beginner-friendly one. it soothes and protects the skin due to its antiseptic & anti-microbial properties (thanks, lavender!) while also providing the skin with the necessary nourishment it needs due to the sebum-mimicking jojoba oil. i love recommending the oil to those with breakouts or those who are new to facial oil.

PLUS - it smells even better then lavender essential oil (which is always great because i’m not the biggest fan of it 🤭). users have commented that it actually helps them fall asleep better. now, how about that? 💜

every time i see this photo, i feel a little happier. it’s so bright & energetic - just like how i want our under-eyes to be!

here are 2 ingredients featured in the herbal eye oil 🤩⬇️

🌼CALENDULA provides antioxidant support, is antiseptic, soothing & stimulates collagen production. this basically means it helps to protect & plump our skin.

🧴SWEET ALMOND OIL is high in oleic acid (so, moisturising), great for sensitive skin & is quick absorbing (no oiliness under your eyes!). it’s high rich vitamin E content allows it to soften, moisturise & soothe your skin. it also contains niacinamide, which helps to reduce hyperpigmentation.

give your eyes some love 😉

making body butters is a full body workout. they’ve definitely contributed to my arm & core strength!

it takes me half a day to complete one batch, because there’s so much of melting & cooling & pouring & more cooling & then mixing - all so that the integrity of the ingredients isn’t ruined.

and one of my favourite parts of making body butters is mixing up the oils (at the right temperature, of course) & seeing the colours change as oils are added to one another. it can be quite hypnotic; so here’s a mini-video of the process! 🤭

the newest batch of herbal eye oils in their new waterproof labels 😍

the skin under your eye is very delicate, thin & fragile. it explains why signs of fatigue can show up the earliest under your eyes. some people also believe that an under-eye product can help to reduce the signs of fine lines but you know what? fine lines and wrinkles are a part of ageing gracefully. they’re a sign of experience & earned wisdom. but our eyes can get so tired so easily and it’s always nice to treat them well. the herbal eye oil adds lightweight nourishment to help to brighten up + soothe the under eye area. the roller ball action ensure you give your under eyes a little massage too! i’ve seen people have the dark circles lighten + their puffy eye bags lessen! how about some herbal eye oil for you? 👀🌼👀

this was the very first blend that i made as a gift. i’d spent about a year creating different essential oil pairings but had always been too fearful of blending a trio of essential oils in my body butters. i wanted to gift this to my fellow yoga teachers in training 2 years ago & used that as my guide. how do you create a sense of yoga in body butters?!

📿sandalwood is one of my favourite scents. it’s grounding yet uplifting. it’s calms the mind & spirit yet also strengthens it. perhaps this is why it’s favoured in meditation.

📿frankincense reduces mental tension & also helps with deep breathing. it’s unique spicy scent keeps your mind from frantically wandering.

📿geranium, one of my all-time favourite scents, is what i describe as a happy rose. it lightens your spirit.

and of course, these three work together to be anti-inflammatory, healing (especially for scars & skin damage), protective (all those anti-oxidants!), toning & tightening.

i like to call this scent ‘meditation in a jar’ but i suppose you could also call it ‘post-yoga glow’ because that’s how i hope you feel after using it & inhaling its wonderful scent 🧘🏽‍♀️

as a skincare formulator, i think it’s so ironic that the more i make it for others the less i use it myself. i remember some months ago, a friend commented on how dry & ashy my feet were. i felt extra embarrassed because i thought i was my own brand’s ambassador! how would people believe in the goodness of my products if i didn’t have ✨purrfect✨ skin!?

but, you know, i just didn’t have the time to take care of my own skin because i was so focused on + excited by making & packing orders!

so far, 2022 has been about just making time for downtime. that means not holding myself to super high standards, not expecting myself to be churning out body butters every minute of free time i get, not obsessing about whether i’m a proper brand ambassador. it’s led to me developing a new sense of mental & physical space - one that allows me to calmly realise what i need & to then equally calmly reach for it.

all this to say that tonight i opened a new jar of geranium & patchouli whipped body butter to apply to my skin post-shower & i smell + FEEL like a gorgeous rose 😅🌹

the website is finally live!! no more sending me messages to place an order 😬 please do bear in mind that orders may take around 2 weeks to be made & then delivered since everything is made in small batches (unless it’s sold out).

STORY TIME😎

helloOoooO welcome to another year with the apothecary! let me tell you the story of how i decided to formulate this luxurious facial oil. my preciousssss beauty.

one of my aims has always been to provide products with ingredients that have known benefits, at a decent price point. i only started taking care of my skin actively in my mid-20s but i know many young people start doing so way earlier. so, prices needed to be reasonable.

a few years ago, i’d tried a facial oil that was almost SGD200. that was insane to me, but it sounded heavenly. it smelled beautiful but when i took a look at the ingredients list, I realised it was full of random oils that had the potential to clog your pores. i soon realised that i was paying for the beautiful scent of the oil. le sigh~

that gave me the inspiration to create a facial oil that smelled delicious, had an ingredient list that was short yet effective & had a low chance of clogging your pores.

the hero of this facial oil is truly the rose flower 🌹there are 2 different types of rose buds used in this, together with a dash of alluring rose absolute & of course, saffron threads to provide your skin with anti-inflammatory + glow-inducing powers.

and guess what? safflower oil is rated a zero on the comedogenic scale 😇 so every one of you that has tried it & enjoyed it - you’ve helped me realise that my quest was worth it after all 💛
