For many years, I’ve been doing booths. Event after event, packing, setting up, standing long hours, and repeating the cycle again and again.

To be very honest, booths are very tiring, and from my experience, the ROI is not as high as many people think. There are hidden costs. Rental, manpower, transport, time away from family, and physical energy.

As I grow in business and in life, I realise something important:
Smart business is not just about selling more.
It’s about selling better, managing cost better, and protecting time and energy.

Today, I focus more on online. Lower cost, wider reach, and sustainable long term.
More efficient for business. More time for family. More room to grow Wali Fragrance properly.

This is not about avoiding hard work.

My Fastest and Hardest Business Failure

1st December 2014 – the day I stepped into the F&B world. No experience, no knowledge, just pure ambition. I started with epok-epok, thinking I could juggle it alongside teaching and running Wali Fragrance.

Reality hit hard. In less than three months, I burned through my five-figure savings—just like that. A painful tuition fee I paid in full, one that I’ll never forget.

This failure reshaped my mindset and approach to business. It was humbling, and honestly, not something I’m proud to talk about. But with age comes maturity, patience, and the wisdom to move smarter.

Failure isn’t the end—it’s a brutal but effective teacher.

Words can’t fully capture the struggles i faced while trying to make our brand known.

Setting up pop-up booths was one of the many challenges.

With tight profit margins, every dollar mattered. I couldn’t afford to take a taxi or rent a car—so we strapped everything onto a motorcycle and made it work. This was the normal procedure. Those who know me know that I will tie literally anything just to save costs, demi sesuap nasi.

There were days i questioned ourselves: Is this worth it?

Many times, i felt like quitting. It would’ve been easier to stay in our comfort zone, remain as teachers, and live a simple, stable life.

But something inside kept pushing us forward. The purpose was bigger than the struggles.

Alhamdulillah. The journey was never easy, but it was always worth it.

We miss it. We miss the energy. We miss YOU.

But for now, we are stepping back from the bazaar scene. Not because we don’t love it, but because we are focusing on growing Wali Fragrance in new ways—ways that allow us to serve you better, make things more convenient, and bring even more value to our customers.
