MAKER - Childhood Dream Nettle & Wild Archie Dead Sea Mud

What will your soap be?

MAKER #4 - she replied, "There were these beautiful flower bushes in my childhood house where I grew up in this little town of Italy. The floral fragrance was very subtle not overtly powering. Oh also, I need the soap to be black."

Challenge Accepted.

Dead Sea Mineral Mud from Jordan, a premium ingredient was chosen and folded in with Activated Bamboo Charcoal. The mud accelerates the skin's detoxification process, draws out excess oil, tightens, and exfoliates to remove dead skin. The activated bamboo charcoal acts as an accompaniment to the detox process.

The Chef chose Nettle & Wild Archil which bears an aromatic green and floral blend which is very subtle and not overpowering. Finally a 3D shimmery purple lilac petal design - that changes colour against the reflection of light. This represents the dance of the flowers, a fond memory forever. The top was textured in random waves to complete the complexity of this creation.

MAKER - Mum’s Garden Brew

What soap represents you?

MAKER #3 - she replied, "My mum's garden will always be a special part of me, and where I find my center. Although she is no longer here, I take comfort in caring after her garden and using them as inspiration for my craft."

I spent 15 years being away from Singapore. It does not matter if I travelled over 55 countries, because eventually I found my center. Which was right where I started - being home, with my loved ones.

Creating a soap that represents me - I was adamant on using local botanicals that everyone can associate with, easily grow and cultivate from the comforts of their center, their home.

The Chef (aka me) used fresh hibiscus, roses and blue butterfly pea flowers from mum's garden, sun-dried them over 2 weeks. Using a slow cooker, I made a rich and strong brew and extracted the essence of the reduced syrup. I then froze the syrup before infusing the cubes to my cold processed soap. I chose peony and blush as the fragrance - namely for its floral and fresh scent notes. The soap is textured rose pink which represents a mother's love and the 3D shimmery pink petal design represents glitter of hope for the future. The top was textured with a middle peak to represent the best is yet to be.

MAKER - Cameron Highlands Sunflower & Pumpkin Soap

What will be the soap that makes you Happy?

MAKER #2 - she replied, "Sunflower's vibrant colour makes me happy. I like Pumpkin too, the colour is fun and it's plant based. Maybe something from Malaysia, I've not been back home for 2 years now.

The Cameron Highlands is a district in Pahang, Malaysia best known for its cool weather, BOH tea plantations, fruit and vegetable farms! The highlands play host to many hydroponic cultivation sites, as well as large sunflower farms!

The Chef tried to recreate the sense of joy in the simplest form, by infusing extracts of fruit & floral botanicals into this maker's vision. The soap presents strong notes of fruity and floral fragrances, with little bits of pumpkin extracts dotted within the soap, akin to sunflower seeds. Finally ending with a vibrant green floral petal to resemble green leaves as you're holding onto a happy sunflower in your hand as you enter the shower. The top was textured happy waves resembling the dance of sunflowers in the wind.

MAKER #1 - Glutinous Shan Green Tea Soap

What comes to mind when you think of home?

MAKER #1 - she replied, "Tea Plantations, South of Myanmar."

Organic glutinous green tea sprout is a product of Pindaya, Southern Shan State. It is cultivated and processed by traditional and natural methods. It has subtle undertones of beautiful aromatics of glutinous rice and dry crisp green tea leaves. It is a very down-to-earth artisan soap, with subtle fragrances of organic tea, bamboo, lemon and clary sage.

Charity Of Choice: 50% of sales proceed of the soap will be pledged to the Migrant Workers’ Assistance Fund (MWAF).
