Professor Dr. Joe Moiba Gives a Stirring Address on the Theme: “The needs of my country Sierra Leone”
In a moment that blended wisdom with patriotism, Professor Dr. Joe Moiba stood tall before an audience, delivering a message that echoed deep into the hearts of Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad. Speaking on the theme “The Needs of My Country Sierra Leone,” Dr. Moiba highlighted not just the struggles we face as a nation, but also the immense opportunities waiting to be unlocked.
He reminded us that Sierra Leone’s needs are not abstract, they are urgent and human:
Good governance rooted in accountability and servant leadership.
Quality education that prepares the next generation to compete globally.
Healthcare systems that protect lives with dignity.
Economic empowerment through agriculture, innovation, and fair opportunities.
Unity and inclusivity so that no tribe, no youth, no woman, and no community is left behind.
With eloquence and passion, Dr. Moiba called on all Sierra Leoneans, leaders, youth, professionals, and diaspora alike, to rise beyond divisions and take collective responsibility. His speech was not about complaints but about solutions, service, and sacrifice for the motherland.
As he closed, his words carried a timeless reminder: “The future of Sierra Leone is not written by chance, but by the hands of her own children.”

BUILDING BRIDGES THROUGH DIALOGUE IN MALEN CHIEFDOM
____________________________________
A Joint Technical Meeting was recently convened between the Malen Development Committee (MDC) and the Socfin Agricultural Company (SAC), a clear demonstration of commitment to partnership and constructive dialogue.
At the heart of the discussions was the Community Development Action Plan (CDAP), a strategic roadmap to ensure that the financial returns from SAC’s agricultural operations are meaningfully invested into the priority development needs of the Malen people.
This initiative is not just about finances, it is about transparency, accountability, and collaboration. It recognizes that while differing views may arise, progress comes when stakeholders engage with mutual respect and a shared vision for development.
The MDC and SAC reaffirmed that only through open conversation and genuine partnership can the aspirations of the Malen community be achieved.
*An Open Address to Mr. Emmanuel Vandi Deoud, Secretary General of the Malen Chiefdom Development Committee (MDC)*
*By Concerned Youths of Malen Chiefdom*
Mr. Secretary General,
With due respect, we, the youths of *Malen Chiefdom,* wish to openly express our deep dissatisfaction with the manner in which we have been marginalized, sidelined, and systematically excluded from the decision-making processes of our beloved Chiefdom.
For far too long, the voices of the young people, the largest and most active demographic in Malen, have been silenced when it comes to critical issues affecting our community.
Decisions that directly impact our future are being taken without our input, as though our opinions, energy, and aspirations hold no value.
This trend of exclusion is not only unfair but also counterproductive to genuine community development.
*The Role of Youth in Community Development*
Youth are not merely bystanders in development, they are catalysts.
We are the workforce, the innovators, the cultural ambassadors, and the future leaders.
*In Malen Chiefdom, young people are:*
Promoting education and skills training despite limited opportunities.
Engaging in civic responsibilities and social initiatives to build peace and unity.
Carrying the aspirations of the Chiefdom forward in an increasingly modern world.
*However*, to deliberately sideline such a vibrant and essential group is to handicap the future of Malen itself.
*Why Youth Inclusion Matters*
Every thriving community across Sierra Leone and beyond recognizes that development cannot be achieved without meaningful youth participation. When young people are involved in decision-making, policies become more reflective of the present realities and more sustainable for the future.
Ignoring us creates frustration, disunity, and a sense of hopelessness that hinders progress.
*Our Appeal*
We are not writing to create conflict but to call for change. Mr. Secretary General, we humbly but firmly urge the Malen Chiefdom Development Committee to:
*1.* Create a structured platform for youth participation in all major decisions.
*2.* Recognize youth leaders and representatives as equal partners in development.
*3.* Invest in youth programs that build capacity, leadership, and economic empowerment.
*4.* Stop the culture of exclusion that reduces the Chiefdom’s development potential.
*Conclusion*
The destiny of *Malen* cannot and should not be decided by a few while the majority is ignored. The youth are not the problem, they are the solution.
To sideline us is to weaken the very foundation of *Malen Chiefdom’s* future.
We are ready to contribute, to work, and to serve.
All we ask is for inclusion, recognition, and respect.
Respectfully,
*The Youth of Malen Chiefdom.*

*DR. JOE MOIBA AT THE CULTURAL FESTIVAL IN TRONDHEIM, NORWAY*
Yesterday, the city of Trondheim, Norway came alive with vibrant colors, music, and traditions during the annual Language and Culture Festival. This spectacular event, hosted at the city’s historic square Torvet, brought together cultures from across the world in a dazzling display of art, food, and performance.
Among the distinguished personalities in attendance was *Rev. Dr. Joe Moiba,* a visionary leader and *FLAGBEARER* hopeful, whose presence added weight and inspiration to the gathering.
*A FAMILY STORY OF EMPOWERMENT*
A special highlight of the festival was the showcasing of the *Margaret Moiba Company*, a humanitarian organization founded and led by *Margaret Moiba*, the younger sister of *Dr. Joe Moiba.*
Margaret’s journey is a true testament to *Dr. Moiba’s* lifelong philosophy:
*“Teach a person how to fish, and they will never depend on others for fish again.”*
Years ago, *Dr. Moiba* took his sister with him to *Europe,* where he ensured she received *quality education and mentorship.* Today, Margaret, educated and happily married to *Aril Reiersen,* is thriving as a humanitarian leader. Her organization, www.verdigesmil.no, now bridges the gap between Sierra Leone and Norway, empowering vulnerable communities and uplifting those often forgotten.
*THE IMPACT OF VERDIGE SMIL*
The Margaret Moiba Company (Verdige Smil) focuses on,
Humanitarian Aid and social Welfare, capacity building and community empowerment
*Community Empowerment*
From marginalized neighborhoods in Sierra Leone to vulnerable groups in Norway, their work has given hope to the hopeless and a voice to the voiceless.
*A SYMBOL OF TRUE LEADERSHIP*
*Dr. Moiba’s* presence beside his sister was more than a family moment, it was a powerful symbol of leadership rooted in empowerment, mentorship, and service.
It demonstrated the future he envisions for Sierra Leone, a future where people are lifted, educated, and empowered to become change-makers in their own right.
As the festival drew to a close, the message rang clear:
True leadership is not about creating dependence, but about creating leaders.
And in both Norway and Sierra Leone, the *Moibas* are living proof of this truth.
