Residents of Fisher Street in the east end of Freetown and environs have alerted relevant authorities, including the National Disaster Management Agency, to what they are referring to as “a death trap” waiting to explode in the community.

According to the residents, this building (in photo) is fully occupied by families, despite its dilapidated condition. They said they are worried that, if any collapse is to happen now, many meaningful lives would be lost.

A resident told AYV that the building does not need repairs, but a complete pull down, adding, “Do we need another national tragedy to act? This is not development. This is negligence on full display”.
