FP SUG 2024/2025

The Freetown Polytechnic Students Union Government held its 2025 financial briefing, discussing the Union's transparency in financial management and the reshuffling of cabinet ministers due to the abandonment of duties by some. Notable changes included the Education Minister assuming the role of the Student Union's Secretary-General and the Internal Affairs Minister taking over as the Education Minister. The newly appointed Education Minister, Mr Douda Samba, reported the Union's achievements in the past three months, which include the construction of a 300-seat pavilion, a student union secretariat, and the opening of eight toilet rooms at the distance building.

The Finance Minister provided an update on the Union's financial expenditures. The meeting also saw praise for the Union President's work from a representative of the student support unit. Different Students Union Presidents appreciated the chance to contribute to the meeting. The cabinet advertiser lauded the spirit of unity demonstrated throughout. The Union President expressed his continued resolve to work for the interest of the students and transform Freetown Polytechnic, pointing to the unique student ID cards and the peaceful graduation ceremony held on 5th April 2025 as achievements.

The Freetown Polytechnic Alumni President encouraged students to join the alumni after college and promised the alumni's support to the student union government. He also revealed plans to waive tuition fees for 50 students. The meeting concluded with updates on the upcoming Mr and Miss Freetown Polytechnic event and plans to establish a student court. It ended with the vice president expressing appreciation for the attendance.
