Why is it that every major initiative from the Ministry of Information and Civic Education seems to follow the same pattern glorifying some artists while completely sidelining others? Once again, Minister Chernor Bah is rolling out a national civic project but somehow the official Entertainment Ambassador, Kao Denero, is nowhere to be found.

This continues to raise serious questions:
Why does the ministry consistently overlook the very person appointed by President Bio to represent the Entertainment industry? Why is only LAJ being pushed forward in every major national event by the Ministry of Information and Civic education?

It’s becoming too obvious and too repetitive. Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry is bigger than one artist, and sidelining the official Entertainment Ambassador only creates division instead of unity. If we truly want peace, unity and national cohesion, then fairness and inclusivity should start at the ministries that preach them. The door should be open to all ambassadors and stakeholders not just a selected few.

Until these biases are addressed, many will continue to feel that certain artists are being favoured while others are intentionally kept out of the picture. Sierra Leone deserves transparency, fairness, and equal representation especially in events like this.

US-Based Sierra Leonean Arrested with Suspected Tramadol at Rogberay Checkpoint.

Kambia District, Sierra Leone – October 23, 2025:
In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking and the smuggling of illegal substances across Sierra Leone’s borders, security personnel at the Rogberay Joint Security Checkpoint in Gbileh Chiefdom, Kambia District, have arrested a 27-year-old man identified as Abdul Akim Bangura with a large quantity of suspected Tramadol tablets.

According to report, Bangura, a Sierra Leonean national reportedly based in the United States but currently residing in Allen Town, Freetown, was apprehended on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, during a routine stop-and-search operation. The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Local Unit Commander (LUC) and joint security forces to prevent the illegal transportation of harmful substances, including Kush, Tramadol, Co***ne, and Cannabis Sativa, into and out of the country.

During the search, security officers reportedly discovered 1,287 cards suspected to contain 250-milligram Tramadol tablets, along with two cups filled with red tablets believed to be of the same dosage. The items were found in the possession of Bangura.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody while the case remains under active investigation by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) to determine the source and intended destination of the drugs.

The arrest underscores the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to intensifying border security operations and combating the trafficking of illicit drugs and contraband that threaten public health and safety.
