The Girl Without a Name

We met at a pub...
down by 3rd and Main.
I took a few drinks,
just to get her real name.
She leaned and whispered,
an open confession.
She was currently working
in the world's
oldest profession.
A office temp by day,
street walker by night.
You could see in her eyes,
she'd had quite a life.
She had plenty of dreams,
but none ever came true.

the only life she knew.
