*The Complete Lifestyle Guide: Breaking the Cycle*
*1. Understand the Root Cause*
Weight gain and metabolic issues (like high blood pressure and prediabetes) are often driven by insulin resistance. When you constantly eat refined carbohydrates, your body stores sugar as fat. Because you never give your body a chance to burn that stored energy, the cycle continues. The goal isn't just weight loss; it's restoring communication between your cells and insulin.
*2. The Real Enemy (What to Reduce)*
Focus on cutting back on foods that spike your blood sugar quickly:
· *Refined Carbs:* White rice, white bread, chapati, posho.
· *Sugars:* Soda, processed juices, cakes, sweets, and alcohol.
· *Fried Wheat*: Mandazi, samosas, doughnuts.
*3. The Solution (What to Embrace)*
Shift your plate to focus on nutrients that stabilize blood sugar:
· *Protein:* Eat enough meat, fish, eggs, or legumes. This preserves muscle mass while you lose fat.
· *Vegetables:* Load up on greens and non-starchy veggies.
· *Healthy Fats:* Avocado, nuts, and cooking oils help you feel full.
4. *The "Hidden" Factors Weight isn't just about food. Pay attention to:*
· Sleep: Poor sleep raises stress hormones, which cause fat storage.
· Stress: Fear and anxiety trigger cortisol, making weight loss harder.
· Inflammation: Processed foods cause inflammation, blocking weight loss efforts.
5. *The Big Mistakes to Avoid*
· Eating Too Little: If you cut carbs but don't eat enough protein and fat, you lose muscle instead of fat. This lowers your metabolism.
· Listening to Conflicting Advice: People will tell you "eat meat" and "don't eat meat" in the same day. Stick to the basics: Whole foods, less sugar.
· Relying on Medication Only: Medicine helps manage symptoms, but food is the cure. To fix insulin resistance, you must fix the diet.
6. *The Final Truth*
This is a journey that requires Consistency. You didn't gain the weight overnight, and you won't lose it overnight. Stick to natural foods, manage you

According to Radio Miraya
KAMPALA - Health ministers from South Sudan, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have agreed to strengthen cross‑border surveillance and early warning systems to contain an ongoing Ebola outbreak, officials said.
The commitment was among 12 resolutions adopted at a cross‑border coordination conference on the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak held in Kampala over the weekend.
The meeting brought together government officials and international partners, including the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, alongside other development and technical agencies.
In a joint outcome, the three countries pledged to enhance coordinated disease surveillance mechanisms, including event‑based surveillance, joint contact tracing, active case finding and real‑time information sharing.
They also agreed to establish routine cross‑border coordination meetings and harmonised reporting systems to improve response efficiency.
Participants further committed to strengthening public health measures at both official and unofficial points of entry. These include improved traveller screening, alert management, referral pathways and monitoring of population movements along high‑risk mobility corridors and border communities.
The ministers emphasised the need to protect vulnerable groups, including frontline health workers, displaced populations, mining communities and border residents who face heightened exposure to the virus.
According to the WHO, the outbreak, centred in the DRC, has resulted in 177 suspected deaths and some 750 suspected cases.
Uganda has meanwhile confirmed three new cases, bringing its total number of infections in the current outbreak to five, as authorities intensify contact tracing efforts to curb further spread.
