My skin experiences PIH or Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation very easily after breakouts occur. These are some of my non-negotiable products that I have as a part of my routine. Each one helps reduce the risk of PIH on my skin.
1. A good spot treatment to help inflamed breakouts. I use the Sulfur Spot Treatment and it dramatically reduces the redness/inflammation I experience.
2. Skinbetter Science AlphaRet Clearing Serum. Everyone should be using a Retinol at night to help with overall texture, fine lines, wrinkles and an even complexion. Clearing Serum helps me receive those benefits with a blend made for blemish-prone skin.
3. Ice! I have this silicone mold that makes it easy for me to ice my face but you can literally just grab an ice cube out of your fridge and apply it to your face! Reducing inflammation as much as possible is going to help all skin conditions. Just make sure if you’re using an ice roller or any other tool, that you are cleaning it after each use.

Spring is just around the corner and that means we’ll be spending more time outside! Just a reminder that you should be seeing a dermatologist at least once a year. If you feel uneasy AT ALL about a spot or mole on your skin, GO GET CHECKED. It’s never too early but it can be too late.
Follow this rule when checking your skin:
A - asymmetry
B - border
C - color
D - diameter
E - evolving
It is so important to make sure you are protecting your skin with SPF. If you need help finding the right SPF for you or just have no idea where to start let me know! I’d love to help. 🤍

✨Hyperpigmentation Triggers✨
•UV Exposure
Make sure you are wearing sunscreen and reapplying an appropriate amount of times throughout the day.
•Hormonal Changes
If you are taking birth control or other medications regularly, they can be creating an imbalance of your hormones resulting in overactive melanin production.
•Inflammation
Acne, Rosacea, Psoriasis, and Eczema are all inflammatory skin conditions that can be controlled. An anti-inflammatory routine is important to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation or PIH.
