Kanarra Falls is a unique hike about 45 minutes away from the crowds in Zion, and while it does require a permit, they’re easy to buy online before you go. Details: 3.8 miles RT includes a slot canyon section 180 permits available each day $15 per person, buy permits in advance online at KanarraFalls.com You will be walking through streambeds and over rocks so wear comfortable hiking shoes with ankle support that you don’t mind getting wet. As with all slot canyons, do not enter if there’s rain anywhere in the area due to the likelihood of flash floods. The first large waterfall is at 1.6 miles. Scaling a 20-foot ladder is required to continue the hike. The ladder may be icy, wet, and slippery. The trail is not maintained after this point, use extreme caution and know your limits. The final waterfall is at 1.9 miles in a narrowing slot canyon and deeper water. Don’t go beyond this point; it’s private property and extremely difficult for Search and Rescue to reach this area.
