When I started doing hair in 2004, I thought success came from talent.
Now I know success comes from being coachable, staying curious, and showing up even when you don’t feel ready.
I’ve worked in corporate salons, privately owned salons, owned a salon, rented a chair, educated across the country, worked fashion shows, photoshoots, and spent more hours behind the chair than I can count.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:
The stylists who make it aren’t always the most talented.
They’re the ones willing to keep learning.
The ones willing to hear hard feedback.
The ones willing to stay in the game long enough to grow.

Hi, I’m Nikki Pow Pow.
I’ve been a hairstylist since 2004, but the truth is, my career has been about a lot more than hair.
I started in a corporate salon where I learned structure, professionalism, and the business side of our industry. From there, I moved into a privately owned salon that opened my eyes to the artistic side of hair, education, photoshoots, fashion shows, travel, and creative freedom.
It was also where I learned one of the hardest lessons of my career.
A mentor once told me, “Nikki, you’re very talented, but your attitude sucks.”
At the time, I hated hearing it.
Today, it’s one of the most valuable pieces of feedback I’ve ever received.
Over the last 20+ years, I’ve learned that talent can open doors, but humility, coachability, and a willingness to grow are what keep them open.
Since then, I’ve worn a lot of hats stylist, salon owner, independent artist, educator, mentor, and now proud Redken Artist. I’ve worked behind the chair, backstage at fashion shows, on photoshoots, music videos, commercials, and in classrooms filled with stylists eager to learn.
Each chapter taught me something different.
Today, I’m building , traveling the country educating for , and continuing to grow into the stylist, educator, and leader I want to be.
My goal has never been perfection.
My goal is growth.
So if you’re new here, welcome. You’ll find hair, education, business lessons, a little sarcasm, plenty of plants, and the occasional reminder that some of our greatest growth comes from the feedback we least want to hear.
Thanks for following along on the journey.

As hairstylists, we spend so much time chasing the perfect haircut, the perfect formula, the perfect photo, and while those things absolutely matter, they’re often not what clients remember most.
They remember how you made them feel.
They remember if you looked up from your phone when they walked in.
They remember if you remembered the vacation they were excited about, the job interview they were nervous for, or the family struggle they shared with you three months ago.
They remember if you listened.
Not listened while formulating.
Not listened while answering texts.
Not listened while thinking about your next client.
Really listened.
The truth is, clients can get their hair done in a lot of places. What keeps them coming back is connection.
It’s feeling seen.
It’s feeling heard.
It’s feeling safe enough to be themselves in your chair.
Some days your foil placement won’t be perfect.
Some days your blowout won’t be your best work.
But if your guest leaves feeling valued, respected, and cared for, you’ve already created something far more powerful than a beautiful head of hair.
Behind every loyal client is a relationship.
Never underestimate the power of remembering their story, celebrating their wins, checking in on their goals, and making them feel important for the few hours they’re sitting in your chair.
Because great hair creates a moment.
Great connection creates a career.

Over the course of our careers, things change. We evolve with every class we attend, every guest who sits in our chair, and every class we facilitate. Each experience shapes not only our skillset, but the way we connect, communicate, and create behind the chair.
As a beauty professional and educator, my goal is to never stop growing — and to help elevate every person I have the opportunity to connect with along the way. Growth in this industry is more than technique; it’s confidence, community, creativity, and the willingness to keep learning no matter how long you’ve been doing hair.
This flyer is an example of some classes I can teach in your salon but not limited too. Please reach out if you have a questions on how to book education with me in your salon. Give your team a little more POW behind the chair. 💕

**Announcement 📣**
Hello everyone!
I’m excited to share that after many months of contemplating and refining my business plan, the time has finally come for me to take a bold step forward and build my very own Redken Salon! Since beginning my journey as a Redken Artist, I have realized that to maintain and nurture that vibrant culture, I need to create it myself.
I've noticed that many of my fellow Redken Artists either work at exceptional Redken Black Elite Salons or own their own, which has inspired me to pursue this vision. After extensive research on salons in our area, I've identified the elements that are essential for an outstanding experience! As most of you know, this is not my first rodeo, and has often been challenging to work in someone else’s salon after owning one myself. When I owned my first salon, I didn’t have the support that the Redken Network provides.
While I embark on this exciting build-out process, I am thrilled to announce that Salon_Sano_ has graciously offered me a position! I will officially start on April 15th, and I can’t wait to share this journey with you all. Salon Sano has a dedicated receptionist, a solid marketing plan, and convenient parking. All pf these things will make this transition period easier.
I want to reassure you that all appointments and pricing will stay the same. You can still book with me at nikkipowpow.com . The ONLY thing changing is the address! You can call the salon to book if you do not see availability on my website.
Thank you for your continued support, and stay tuned for more updates!
It’s also come to my attention that everytime Laura Kathleen does a branding shoot with me, i do something big afterwards.
Warmly,
Nikki Pow Pow 💥 💥

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” - Maya Angelou
She’s a a whole REDKEN ARTIST! This is only the beginning of the this journey. It was by far the hardest thing I ever accomplished. We were excepted to grow and retain information at the speed of the water coming out of a fire hose. We all did it! All 33 of us. I am honored to be a part of the LOVE brand. Everyone in Redken’s Power Network has been so inviting. My facilitators were phenomenal. This process has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself and others!
Two years ago I decided I was going to be a Redken Artist. I was approaching 40 years old and 20 years in the industry. It was time to give back to my peers. I had no idea how much I would gain in the process!
I have missed my family, friends and clients while on this journey. I’ll be back in the salon tomorrow. Let’s celebrate! 🫶 Thank you for standing by me during the last three months. I appreciate the support and love!
