Finally! Spring is here again. What a long two years, right? Are you asking yourself what you ought to do? Here's 4 ideas:

1 - Ask your hairstylist/colorist for new ideas. Look through magazines. If you don't have a stylist, ask your friends for a referral or stop a person in the grocery store whose hair you love.

2 - Go through your hair and body products. All of them. Toss out or give away everything that's pre-covid. Unless you're sure it is still good quality. Then, the products you don't like or use, need to be gone. Clear it away. Be bold. Start fresh.

3 - Ask your stylist to reassess your beauty needs and try new products - those products along the line of what you have realized you enjoy the best. Like the products you kept in the cupboard.

4 - Consider trying something you've put off. Such as eyelash extensions, a facial, visiting a makeup counter, brow design, and heck, why not new glasses while you're at it?

Step into spring of 2022 with a bold new attitude toward life. Embrace and love your new adventure! It's a responsibility that only you can accomplish :)

Now what? Not being able to use salons for haircolor during this pandemic is going to press the issue for many of you about whether to "go grey" or not. I know it's a tough decision! If you "go grey" you may feel worse about your hair during a depressive enough time in the world. That may not be helpful to you. Personally, I will not stop coloring my hair at a time when I need to feel my best. "Get up, clean up, and show up", is my motto. However, if going grey does not bother you, then go for it! You can always go back to coloring when salons safely reopen. No harm done. But for those of you who feel the need to color your own hair, I want to share a few tips. First of all, do not guess at what you need. Ask your stylist if you are thinking about going to Sally's Beauty supply. (That is probably your best option to purchase properly). Now is not the time to be shy and rely on your own judgment, because your stylist may feel very comfortable about helping you - but only on the condition that you stay very conservative. Absolutely no changes! Only color the basic roots in a tone that does not alter what your stylist has previously been doing. Minimize all risk, no matter how adventurous you may be feeling. That's the safest way to proceed. Have a family member help you. Take your time, be precise and watch a handful of tutorial videos first. Color only the roots and put conditioner on all of the remaining hair while you process. Cutting any corners , or your hair, will only make matters worse and you'll have to live with that until whenever... Please be safe, no matter what. Hugs and prayers, Colleen

Detangling The Confusion!: Keeping Beautifully Colored Hair Beautifully Colored 02/04/2019

Happy wintery day! Here's some hair tips on curling irons/flat irons : With Respect to Temperature Settings…
A common advertising strategy used for curling irons and flat irons is their ability to reach 425-450°F. This message may imply that "higher temperatures are better." But wait - these temperatures may be great for coarse, thick hair, and although there's a large population with that hair type, what about medium, fine, thin, or damaged hair? Well, here's what you need to know... It is recommended to purchase an iron designed with a full-range temperature dial and begin testing effectiveness at 200° with a 340°F limit. Studies have shown that ironing hair above 400° F may cause irreversible damage, known as "keratin melt." Using irons set too high is a common mistake for many consumers, and causes problems such as split ends, heavy breakage, inability to hold curl, and faded color. For further information, check out this booklet. It is also offered free on Kindle unlimited.

Winter weather is coming! Which you know, increases fly-away hair due to static electricity. Also, since "cold air is dry air" our hair will soon reflect the loss of humidity. Now is the time to increase the amount of conditioner and moisturizer we apply to our hair, as well as the frequency. Tip #1 - Keep hand lotion close. Rub it almost all the way into your hands, then tossle your hair a bit to remove static. If that doesn't work, there may be build-up on your hair which may prevent absorption of moisture. Be sure to use a clarifying/chelating shampoo and apply it two times in a row. The first shampooing will lift the residue, the second shampooing will remove it from the hair. Tip #2 - Drink more water. Alot more water! Did you know that your body heat will radiate the increased moisture from within and help create a more humid atmosphere for your hair? (And skin, of course..)
