Grateful…. I have been really emotional the last few days, so far today is the peak of that haha 🥲 so if you see me just hand me a Kleenex.
First, I’m grateful to be feeling a lot better, yeehaw! I’m grateful to have been able to help my Dad. I’m grateful for all the people who stepped up to help with meals. I am so grateful for all the prayers, the flowers, the kind words from all of you, my work family, my patients, people I went to HS with, PA friends, my Aesthetic cohorts, volleyball family, SVA family, my whole community… you rallied around not just me, but also Katherine at school. You prayed and I felt so supported and loved right through this. I know I always put on a brave face and say “everything is fine, I’m fine, don’t worry about me”, but I can’t even begin to explain how helpful your kindness has been🩷. I am so grateful for my husband, kids and family, who also had to bravely walk through this with me. My husband was terrified (although he did his best not to show it), pretty sure my kids were too, but everyone put on a brave face for me, I know, I could see it, and I’m grateful. They understood the importance, how much it meant to not just me but our whole family to be able to do this for my Dad, their Papa. I hope everyone knows our world is actually full of many wonderful, kind, loving and generous people, who will step forward when you need them most.

I definitely plan to talk more about my donation experience, how positive it was, truly how easy it was, and how wonderful the team at the Mayo Clinic was, but IG says I’m out of space, so make another one.

I woke up at 4 a.m. with this lyric running through my mind:
“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders.” It’s from Oceans by Hillsong UNITED, I listened to it last night and it hasn’t let go of me since.

In life, we often walk through some pretty heavy things. Building. Rebuilding. Hoping. Trusting. Sometimes it feels like standing in deep water with no map—just faith.

Matthew 14:22-33 tells the story of Peter stepping out of the boat and walking on water towards Jesus. “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come” Jesus said. Peter stepped out and walked towards Jesus on the water. When he saw the wind, he was afraid. He started to sink and he cried out “Lord save Me”, and Jesus reached out and caught him. Jesus then said “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” That part, undoes me every time. How many times have I doubted, struggled, turned away and pushed back, only to be given so much grace again. I see it and I feel it every day, even on the hard ones.

Sometimes I feel like Peter. I’m brave one minute, and then wobbly the next, but I keep stepping anyways. What I’ve learned, is that we don’t have to have it all together or all the answers to keep moving forward. Sometimes trust looks shaky while still saying yes, and stepping forward into the unknown with faith. It is all in his plan, and he has me, and you.
