🚨 WINTER SAFETY ALERT 🚨

The Groveland Police Department is sharing this safety tip after a resident recently fell through snow-covered ice into a beaver den and struggled to get out of the water near the Parker River.

Even in extreme cold, beaver lodges and underwater channels can create hidden open water or thin ice. Snow can completely conceal these dangerous conditions, making areas appear solid when they are not.

⚠️ Please remember:
• Walk and snowshoe only on solid, established trails in the woods
• Avoid frozen ponds, rivers, and wetlands
• Use extra caution near beaver lodges, dams, and marshy areas
• Ice conditions are unpredictable and can change quickly
