For those that have been seeing growth thus far, there is a chance that your ends need to be trimmed, or you’re due for a haircut. Once we let go of the damage, our hair process will be much easier. The damage includes heat damage that has been taken a while to revert, split ends, and those miscellaneous strands that are no longer curls. Let go of the damage, so we can make room for growth. Hey family, cheers to another hair tip Thursday. May our hair continue to grow and flourish with every tip ! This hair tip Thursday is all about wash day. Did you know that overuse of shampoo can damage your hair? Shampoo works as a surfactant, like detergent. Shampoo’s job is to get rid of all the excess dirt and oils that stick to your scalp and strands. Shampoo is mainly to clean your scalp. The only times that you should be using shampoo is if your hair is too oily or the dirt is weighing it down. Some hair specialist recommend that we shampoo once a month otherwise, it will strip our hair of all the IMPORTANT oils and leaves it dry. Also, microfiber towels are a MUST for wash day. Microfiber towels have extra absorbency due to the denser fabric and larger surface area. Since they absorb more water, they require less tugging and pulling at your hair. Our CEO uses satin scrunchies to dry her hair but some of our family members use blow dryers. It is important to dry your hair naturally about 20%, and then use your drying tool at a distance on a MEDIUM temperature. Wash day is all about learning how to safely maneuver our hair. Hey family, welcome back for another hair tip Thursday! Hair tension is not stressed ENOUGH but is one of the main causes of hair loss. Hair tension can even lead to traction alopecia. Tension is caused by hair pulling, tight hairstyles and even stress. You can probably tell your hair has been through tension if your scalp is sore or your hair is thinning. Tension hairstyles are any styles that cause too much friction against our hair follicles. Stress can push hair follicles into a “resting” stage, in which our hair will not produce new strands. The “resting” hair follicles may fall out overtime. There are multiple ways to help reduce tension and benefit your hair journey at the same time !
