Morning run to the petroglyphs

After spending 3 days on our feet in the parks and basically walking a half marathon every day, and after our cross training adventure in DCA, a light 1-mile jog felt good. Back at it tomorrow though!! (Day 92)

Workouts on vacation are always a challenge. But I kept my streak alive by running at least a mile every day.
The first two days were on the treadmill at the hotel 😢 But Sunday morning we got to do a workout inside California Adventure an hour before it opened. Such a magical experience to go backstage and see the park in such a peaceful state!

Beautiful run with an approaching storm this morning. Just a short run so I curd get back for the premier episodes of Andor!

Oh man, I wish veggies and healthy stuff always tasted this good! 😂 I still have to eat my veggies so I’m not completely off the hook, but this Cookies and Creamy Shakeology makes sure I get a good start in the morning.
A creamy, velvety shake that’s Plant-Based and vegan with powerful, nutrient-dense ingredients? Duh! Count me in!!

Why start a run streak?
Running has been difficult for me ever since c0v!d. I’ve been dealing with inflammation in my legs and lungs. And it seems like my immune system has taken a hit.
BUT I am determined to keep running. And for me, starting a run streak helps me with my discipline and identity as a runner. Even on the worst or busiest of days, I strap on my shoes and head out the door for at least a mile. Often, if I’ve gone through that much effort, I’ll end up doing more than a mile.
And on top of that, I can say to myself, “I run every day. It’s what I do.” That statement of self-identity helps me to get my workouts in. There’s no question of “do I feel good enough?” or “do I have time?” No. I’m going to run today. It’s what I do.

Beautiful run through Verrado this morning! And my current run streak is at 88 days!!
We are headed to Disney this week so it will be tough to get up and run in the morning before hitting the parks. But def worth it! Gotta burn off all those beignets and macarons!!

Today’s 7-mile trail run takes my running streak to 36 days. Proud of that. But I also have mixed feelings about today’s run. It was hard. Harder than it should have been. A year ago I could do this loop in just over an hour. Today it was just over 90 minutes. It’s been a rough year physically but I still feel like I should be in better shape than this. Yet I ran my best today. My goal is to focus on “best” not “better.” Thanks to and . I’ll get back to where I should be. But for now, I’m gonna do my best every run.

Do you ever tear up on a run just because it’s so stinkin’ magical? Ya me neither. Def not today. 😂 But it was one of those days where everything came together perfectly.
🌄 Great cloud over over me but the eastern horizon was clear so the sun had a clear shot at the mountains
🌿 Just finished a podcast about the peace and tranquillity in Disney’s Animal Kingdom
🎶 Put on some runspo music (I find my inspiration and motivation in my soundtrack. Today it was country-rap. Maybe it’s just me but I’m pretty sure it’s a thing.)
💦 There was a light mist. Not a sprinkle. Just enough of a falling mist to catch the light from the sun’s flare.
🏜 The beauty of nature around me was overwhelming.
Just one of those perfect moments. 🥲

I love trails. I love Skyline Regional Park. I love living in Arizona. I love that I didn’t have to run in a beanie and arm sleeves this week. I love that I can get out on the trail for a few hours on my day off. and

I love trail running. And I love trail running with my wife. Though it was more of a death crawl today as my body is trying to recover from my workout this weekend. Still it’s so beautiful out in the desert. I love it out here!
