Bridal Makeup Preview | K-Beauty Edition 💖

As a lover of all things K-Beauty, my beautiful bride-to-be Ashley knew exactly the look she wanted for her wedding day. 💍

Her biggest concern was a few active breakouts, but her skin was actually incredibly healthy, plump, and well cared for. She wanted that seamless, glowing, skin-like finish that’s so characteristic of Korean beauty. 🌸

Using my signature hybrid traditional + airbrush technique, I worked in ultra-thin layers, strategically building coverage with different formulas to perfect the skin while keeping it fresh, luminous, and completely undetectable.

Following her inspiration, we created a soft monochromatic rosy look, subtly contouring the cheeks, nose, and both the upper and lower eyelids to enhance her natural features. The final touch? A beautiful glow-from-within complexion, designed to last through her bridal shower celebration on a warm summer evening in Downtown Charleston. 💫👛🍸

Wearing press-on lashes before your makeup appointment: yes or no?

For this senior photoshoot, my beautiful client showed up wearing press-on lashes, and while I know it seems like a good idea, it’s actually a no from me.

Here’s why:

Once lashes are on, they limit the way I can work on the eyes. They collect eyeshadow fallout, can look dusty, and often end up uneven in photos. Lashes are meant to be the finishing touch, not the starting point.

Unless you have professional lash extensions, it’s always best to arrive with clean lashes and let me apply them at the very end of your makeup application.

Trust me, they’ll look better. :)

I can customize the style to your eye shape, your makeup look, and how you’ll be photographed. The result? Even, bright black lashes that blend seamlessly and elevate the entire look. 🤌🏻

In this case, I added some individual lashes on top of hers to fill in the gaps and make them look more even and polished in photos.

A little pro tip from your makeup artist: let the lashes come last. ;)

Let’s talk bridesmaids glam 👗💫

In tight wedding day timelines, you normally have 30–40 minutes to meet the bridesmaid, get a feel for her vibe and inspiration, learn about skin conditions, allergies, sensitivities, and then create a look accordingly.

You want to make her feel seen, understood, and not like a cookie-cutter stencil has been put on her face. That’s where channeling the empath in you comes into play. 🙂

You want to figure out if the bridesmaid is really comfortable with a full glam, even though she never wears makeup. Or whether your client’s coloring, features, and personal style actually harmonize with those of her inspiration pictures.

The girl with active acne or acne scarring may think she wants something very natural, but what she actually needs is a fuller coverage makeup disguised as a soft glam. And then there’s the girl who’s into beauty and fashion and currently in love with the trendy Nina Park look. (I know… who isn’t? 🙌)

So yes, making each of your girls feel understood and seen requires not only makeup skills, but also empathy, attention, and the ability to read between the lines. ;)🙇‍♀️

A little bridal pro tip: arrive with completely clean skin—no tinted moisturizer, SPF tint, foundation, or leftover makeup. Starting over unknown products can cause separation, patchiness, and uneven wear because formulas can react with professional products. Clean skin gives us the perfect canvas for flawless, long-lasting results.
