How is it already December 9th? If you still have presents to buy (let's be honest, we all do) here's a helpful guide to some holiday markets in Charleston where you can find us this month.
This year it is especially important to shop locally as small businesses had it tough in #2020. Please feel free to share this post so others know where they can shop Mom and Pop as well!

Need a last minute dessert recipe for the big day tomorrow? We've got you covered! 🙌
🍋These lemon bars are creamy, light and delicious- and incredibly easy to make. You don't even have to tell anyone they are gluten and dairy free! Just make sure to start the recipe tonight if you can.
✨Ingredients✨
-1.5 c pecan flour (can sub almond flour)
-1/4 c brown sugar
-4 tbsps melted dairy free butter
-1 c cashews
-1 c coconut cream
-2 tbsp arrowroot starch
-1/2 c lemon juice
-1 tbsp lemon zest
-pinch sea salt
-1/4 c maple syrup
✨Directions✨
-Boil water, pour on cashews. Let sit for 1 hr
-Preheat oven to 350, line 8x8 pan with parchment paper
-Mix pecan flour, brown sugar, and butter together and line bottom of pan, bake for 8 minutes and let cool
-Add remaining ingredients to high speed blender and blend until smooth
-Pour filling into pan, tap on counter to remove bubbles
-Bake for 20-23 min, let rest for 10, then transfer to fridge. Let bars set in fridge for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight)
-Optional- serve lemon bars with sprinkled powdered sugar ☺️

Just as promised- the vegan golden milk recipe that will warm you right up 💛

Golden Milk Recipe
⠀
-1 1/2 cups coconut milk
-1 1/2 cups Carya Pecan Milk (unsweetened)
-1.5 tsp ground turmeric
-1 cube crushed ginger (or 1 tsp grated)
-1 tbsp coconut oil
-1 cinnamon stick
-1 pinch black pepper
-1 tbsp sweetener of choice (we used coconut sugar!)

Heat all ingredients until almost boiling in a small saucepan. Strain out cinnamon stick and ginger if grated, froth with handheld frother and serve ✨Makes enough for 2-3 servings.

Baked oats - talk about a comfort food 💛 This warming, nutritious breakfast is a great way to meal prep for a few mornings in a row. Recipe below!
Zucchini Bread Baked Oats:
-1/2 cup rolled oats
-1/2 mashed banana
-1/2 grated zucchini
-1 scoop vanilla protein powder
-1/2 tsp cinnamon
-1/2 tsp baking powder
-1/2 cup Carya pecan milk
Preheat oven to 375. Combine ingredients in an oven safe dish and bake for 30 minutes. Top with nut butter, yogurt, and/or maple syrup. Enjoy!

-1 frozen banana
-1 cup frozen riced cauliflower
-1 serving vanilla protein powder
-3/4 cup pecan milk
-1 tsp cinnamon
-1/3 cup vanilla yogurt

Did you know that the California almond industry is actually pretty terrible for the environment? A few reasons why:

〰️Bees are imported each season to pollinate the almond trees. Most of them don’t survive〰️
⠀
〰️Almonds are very water hungry plants, but grown in drought-stricken California (think wildfires)〰️
⠀
Pecans are mostly grown by smaller farms, and are native to the South. They are water hungry plants too, but are typically grown in more sustainable ways. That’s why pecan milk just makes more sense!
