I celebrated my 15th year as a Network Marketing professional a couple of days ago, and today, on International Women’s Day, I thought it fitting that I share what this business represents TO me, and what it’s done FOR me.

When I started my business after exiting the corporate world, I surprised a lot of my work colleagues and was dismissed as “one of those people.” 🫤

At first, I was confused by it, since I had a long history of success in my field and thought that I had earned their respect. Undeterred by what they though about me (they just didn’t see what I saw) I envisioned becoming successful in my new career and set my sights on the vision I had for it: full-time income with no glass ceiling, the flexibility to work when I wanted to work, and the freedom to take time off whenever I wanted it, without having to ask permission. (I wanted unlimited PTO with no strings attached.)

I turned their skepticism into an advantage. I embraced my new career and became a student of my new industry. I listened to those that had been successful before me (not the skeptics) and modeled my approach towards theirs. Just as I had done in my prior career, I worked hard and allowed myself to make mistakes; tons of them. I approached challenges with humility and resilience.

While others were skeptical, I continued to believed in the opportunity and stayed consistent.

Eventually, my efforts paid off, and I achieved my goals of freedom from the 9-5. I was recognized as a leader within my company and one of my most memorable achievements was to be asked to present on the main stage at our national convention a couple of years ago. It was a pinch-me moment I will never forget.

I learned something new about myself in my second career; I learned that being underestimated by others was, for me, a powerful tool for success. It fueled my desire, my vision, my goals.

I not only achieved success beyond my wildest expectations, I found purpose in my second career, unlike anything I had felt in my first one. Empowering other women has become my mission and I’m grateful for every setback and challenge that it’s provided.

So today, on 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏’𝒔 𝑫𝒂𝒚, it seems fitting to shout out to all the WOMEN out there!

…Those of you who are being dismissed, or feeling “less than” or unworthy… remember that there is greatness within you! You ARE worthy of more! We each bring a unique talent and energy into the world and marketplace and your uniqueness is necessary! 🫶🏼

Meet my friend Colleen. Colleen is an attorney by trade. She comes from a family of prominent, local and beloved politicians. She's super smart, well connected, and she had lots of options. She didn't "need" Rodan + Fields the way some people may think.

She just wanted to find a way that she could make some money working from home so that she could be around for her three beautiful kids. She invited some friends over for apps and cocktails one night to help a friend from college launch her new skincare business (R+F.) Several of her guests decided to buy some skincare that night and her friend asked her if she wanted to join her as a consultant. Colleen said no thanks, but, after overhearing about these doctors and their new company, her very savvy husband went upstairs and did some research of his own. He came back down and said: you should do this. That's it. Just 4 little words. 4 little words of validation and encouragement that changed the course of Colleen's future.

I don't know if you have someone in your corner like John Mueller; someone who believes in you and encourages you no matter what, but even if you don't, this may be all the encouragement you need. Meet my friend Cheryl. I met when my daughters were teenagers.
I had daughters and she had sons that were about the same age and knew each other from the neighborhood. When Homecoming and Prom season came around, we would see each other at the "pictures before the dance event" for parents. 😁 We also had a mutual friend that would bring us together on other occasions, like concerts and parties. So when she says we started as acquaintances, that is the back story. We were friends of friends. Six degrees of separation acquaintances…

She was always a dedicated mom and wife and worked harder than most people I knew and that made me instantly drawn to her. She was a realtor and also worked in retail part-time when I first met her. She didn't think she had the time for one more thing, but when she saw the Lexus I earned through my Rodan + Fields business, it piqued her interest.

When she realized that she could replace the income she earned from her part-time job (that took her away from home) with an R+F business that she could work from anywhere (around her busy schedule) a lightbulb went off in her head and she never looked back.

She's an inspiration to me to this day and is loved by everyone that knows her. She has a big heart, is a no-nonsense, tough-love kind of person, and loves God. Not much more needs to be said.

Meet my friend Pamela. When I first met Pam at a Rodan + Fields event, I didn't know what to think. She seemed interested, but then she asked me: "Everyone seems so happy here. Are you guys always like that??" And that, ladies and gentlemen, was the start of an amazing friendship. ❤

She is feisty, smart, bold, and hilarious. She's like a sister to me and I can't believe God waited so long to bring us together, but I trust his judgment and know that she came at the perfect time.💥

She is an amazing mom to 3 boys and married to the love of her life. She seemed like an unlikely candidate to decide this was for her, but she's flourished in her R+F business. She is dedicated to improving herself and helping others along the way. She has embraced and inspired others along the way.

People come to the decision to do a business like ours for many reasons. What they don't realize is that there's so much more below the surface. They decide to do it for extra money or more flexibility, but what happens along the way is so much more. It's the perk they didn't expect. The unexpected silver lining. Through the business, we are connected to people that push us to 𝙗𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧.

It builds our confidence, which helps us in every aspect of our life. We learn skills we didn't know we needed. I stretches us and grows us. (There is really no downside.) It's not always easy, but it is doable, it is worth it, and most people are glad they decided to do the bold thing instead of the other thing.

Meet my friend Jeanette. What can I tell you about Jeanette to really capture who this dynamo is?

Let's see... for starters, she is a hair stylist by trade (one of the best around.) She's a single mom of a teenage son, she owned a high-end salon in Lincoln Park, a swanky neighborhood in Chicago for 15 years. Although it was very successful, she somehow decided in 2021 that she had had enough of Chi-town, sold her salon, and moved to Nashville. 😳

To say she's one tough cookie, is an understatement. She didn't know where she would live when she got to Nashville and didn't have a job lined up, but she just felt it in her bones that Nashville was where she would rather be and so she packed up her son, Lucas and her pup, Theo and off they went on their new adventure.

They not only survived, they thrived… Not at all surprising if you know Jeanette. She is positively positive; never plays the victim, and she knows what she needs to do to get things done. She never, ever shies away from hard work.

You may think that Jeanette is one of those people who lives a charmed life. On the surface it all seems effortless because she never panics and doesn't complain; instead, she finds humor in even the toughest of situations. She has brought so much laughter to our Rodan + Fields team and I can't imagine this journey without her. 🫶🏼
