As I sit here, planner (sorta) in hand, I'm thinking about my mom. We try to get together about every 4-6 weeks, but it can be hard with distance, schedules, etc. When she came over today, our conversation ranged from curly hair techniques, to our eldest going to college in a couple of years, to the various pets we both had growing up, and my baby sister's upcoming wedding.

What I'm realizing is how blessed I am. Not because my mother is still with me or that we have a relationship. Not because I got my curly hair from her or that she decided to go to Seminary in her 70's. I'm blessed because these last few visits have allowed me to get to know her as something other than 'Mom' and instead get a glimpse of the history that helped shape the person she is today. Mom is a great title. So is wife/partner. But I would argue that Self is greater.

Who needs a Spa holiday??!!🙋🏻‍♀️I know school started today for us, but I think come December, a Spa retreat is just what I will need!

Today marks 8 years of one of the best decisions I could have made for myself. Going from having my own career, to staying at home with our girls, to the youngest getting ready to start school.... And I was floundering. I wasn't really sure who I was anymore. Sure, I was "Moooooommy!" and Trey's wife, but surely I was more than that? Then a friend (now a dear friend) invited me to come to this thing on night. I think it might even have been only about 30 min before it was supposed to start! On impulse (cuz that is how I roll sometimes), I went. Had a blast. Got to try some new skincare that while I needed it, didn't get. Instead I got a black gel eyeliner. Again, cuz that's how I rolled 😂

Later, I did get the skincare and I decided to go to another event that she invited me to. It was at that event that I decided Rachel had the right idea and Gail was just too much fun to not be around. They didn't know it, but I decided I needed to join the Mary Kay world.

Now, I'm not floundering, I'm growing. I'm constantly surrounded by amazing women and have great relationships with both my MK sisters and my customers. Even if I weren't making money, I would still do what I do, for the relationships.

So, thank you to my husband, Trey, for always being supportive, even when it is annoying and inconvenient 🥰😘 Thank you to Rachel and Gail who knew I wasn't actually saying "No!" Thank you Mary Kay for giving me an opportunity to find something I hadn't known I had lost. And thank you Lord for leading me down the path that has led me to this point ❤️

Now it's time to get ready for the next 8+ years!
