This is an interesting pattern that is coming out of Covid research. We need to remember that correlation is not causation. Still, if there really is something to this pattern, it could be another piece of the puzzle that helps researchers and vaccine developers and therapeutic developers understand and mitigate the huge variety of symptoms that present from this virus.

Happy summer solstice everyone!
As we get closer to July 4th, remember to be extra careful with your pet family members. More pets are lost this time of year than any other. They run scared for blocks or even miles and then can’t find their way home.
Some percentage of them find their way into shelters and only 20% of those find their way home.
This year with no municipal fireworks and people having been cooped up people are buying more fireworks than ever. It’s going to be local mayhem.
Here are some tips:
1) do not let your pet out without a leash (cars and ferrets and bunnies can all wear a leash). Dogs can jump ridiculous heights when terrified, cats always can.
2) always walk your dog (or whatever on a leash) at all times. Fireworks started in my federal way neighborhood
3) on 4th, keep them locked in a room. My dog likes to be in a small, den-like space. So I used to lock her in my bed room, put a blanket in the shower and put water in the bathroom for her.
4) talk to your vet about medicines that can help well in advance. You might need it leading up to July 4th.
5) if you had started back in January or so, desensitization is another thing you can try. So keep it in mind for next year. Record the fireworks on tv or find something on you tube, start at 15 minutes on low volume and gradually start increasing duration. Then increase the volume.
6) thunder shirts can work too but this also takes time, maybe months. I’d start the year prior and put on the thunder shirt and then do highly pleasurable and relaxing activities. They need to associate the shirt with pleasure. Eating a meal, petting, cuddling, a walk, whatever. Not adrenaline pumping pleasurable activities cuz you don’t want them to amp themselves up anticipation a free for all run after a ball when they see the shirt.
Fireworks can start in May and go to August in some neighborhoods so adjust accordingly.

You’re never too old to regain that lost muscle. And you can do it at home. “Building and maintaining strength is one of the most important things you can do at any stage of life, and it’s extremely important after age 50,” a sports medicine physician said.

It’s getting to be that time of year when the sun is out longer and you probably want some protection from the sun. Maybe you’ve heard about or read the FDA report about harmful sunscreen ingredients being absorbed into your body.
Here’s some help:

Each uses a different mechanism for protecting skin and maintaining stability in sunlight. Each may pose hazards to human health. The most common sunscreens on the market contain chemical filters.
