Six hand-soap products manufactured by Intercon Chemical Co. were recalled because of possible bacterial contamination. Some of these products were distributed in Texas.

Why does this matter to me as a DIY NailCare Educator?

Because proper nail care begins before the polish, press-ons or nail art. It begins with clean hands, clean products and a clean workspace. Soap is supposed to support sanitation, but even the products we use for cleaning should be checked for recalls, expiration dates and unusual changes.

The recalled products include:

• Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe
• Clearly Better by Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe
• Summit 150 Foaming Hand Soap
• Vestis Foaming Hand Soap, Fresh Pear Scent
• Laura Lynn Honey Apple Crisp Liquid Hand Soap
• Laura Lynn Foaming Pear Scent Hand Soap With Moisturizers

If you have one of these soaps, do not identify it by appearance alone. Check the UPC, lot code and best-by date against the recall information before disposing of it.

This is your reminder to check your DIY nail station, bathroom, workplace and product storage area. Safe nail care includes knowing what products you are using and keeping up with product recalls.
