A parents love for their child is like no other. So much so, Louise Burrell Miller and other families sued the Board of Education D.C.

From 2 hour bus rides to limited resources, Louise had enough. Black Deaf children deserved better and they got it! Because "on July 3, 1952, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled in their favor in Miller v. The Board of Education". The ruling stated that "African Americans could not be sent outside a state to obtain the same education that white students could have within the state". Thus, opening the door for Brown v Board of Education.

Well, in 1967 the Lovings felt it! On June 12th 1967, the "U.S. Supreme Court unanimously... ruled in favor of Loving v. Virginia which declared that state bans on in*******al marriage violates the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution". This fight that Mildred Loving, embarked on gave a voice to in*******al love across the country and even inspired Gay Right Advocates during their journey to equality.🏳️‍🌈

Did you know that in most states, Hair Texture and Style can still be used as a base for Educational and Professional Discrimination?

Well, thanks to The CROWN(Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair) Coalition in 2019 California passed the CROWN Act leading the way for other states to "prohibit race-based hair discrimination, which is the denial of employment and educational opportunities because of hair texture or protective hairstyles including braids, locs, twists or bantu knots"!
