New Product!

Bittersweet Glycerite
GH Elecampane, Organic Grapefruit Peel, GH Tulsi (rama), GH Burdock Root, Foraged Dandelion leaf and root, Organic Hawthorne Berries, Foraged Sassafrass Leaf, Organic Cinnamon
Infused in organic Coconut derived Glycerine and Steam Distilled Water

GH=Golden Hour Herb Farm near Lansing they grow HIGH QUALITY herbs that picky people like myself trust.

Glycerine is a natural byproduct of the soap making process. It is a great alternative to alcohol for extracting herbs.

One of the topics that was really emphasized while studying herbalism is our NEED for bitters. Bitters have been bred out of most of our foods. Bitters in general stimulate all the good digestive juices you need. Assisting with breaking down of food, and in turn assimilation of nutrients. They may also help balance blood sugar and reduce sweet cravings.

Bitters may support conditions like Acid Reflux which in most cases is caused by an underproduction of stomach acid. It is the stomach acid itself that signals the Lower Esophagi sphincter (the door to your Esophagus) to close. So in many cases medication and stuff like tums which discourages stomach acid can make things worse long term. Not saying this is every case and I am not a doctor. But consider this when you are putting pieces together to support you wellness.

Now you can get bitters a lot of different ways. Eating arugula for example, is just as great as getting it through an herbal extract. I love extracts because of their ease of use. They are always ready to go. This product provides an accessible and balanced blend of flavors that may make it easier for some people than a bowl of spinach.

The next thing I want to highlight is the herbs in this product
-Elecampane- Bitter, stimulating, warming (i find a lot of bitters are cooling, I like that this one is warming) it is also a lung tonic on its own with a long list of benefits.
-Grapefruit peel- Bitter, bright, Uplifting, anti-inflammatory
-Tulsi- Aromatic, Anti-inflammatory, Supports Digestion, Adaptogen (great for supporting daily wellness)
-Burdock- Supports Bowel Motility and Waste Elimination, provides pre-biotic inulin (thats the white/cloudy layer at the bottom)
-Dandelion- Stimulates bile production, Pre-Biotic inulin
-Cinnamon- This was added to balance the flavor but has additional benefits of being anti-inflammatory may help sooth the lining of the stomach. May also reduce post-meal glucose spikes
-Sassafrass Leaf- Unlike the root the leaf has its own flavor and herbal qualities. It has a mild citrus taste. It is soothing and aids the circulation of herbs, helping to deliver them more efficiently to where they need to go.

How to use: 1-2 squirts straight in the mouth or in a beverage of choice as desired ideally before a meal. Though it IS bitter, I really tried to balance the flavor with other supportive herbs. Many people notice that at first bitters may be unpalatable that they acquire a taste and even crave them after regular use. I think it would be excellent in a bubbly drink with a squeeze of lime or perhaps some gin if that is your thing.

Note and Disclaimer: Now this is a very limited overview of the function of these individual plants. Though all of these herbs are generally safe for daily consumption. It is always advised to do you research or consult with a professional especially if you are any other medications, nursing, or pregnant.

🌿 Product Highlight 🌿
Passion Flower
Available as an alcohol based extract and Glycerine (Alcohol free) extract

What's the difference between the two? The Glycerine Extracts is less concentrated so it may take more to get the same effect. Otherwise they should offer the same benefits.

Passion flower, Passiflora incarnata
Is Native to the South Eastern U.S. even as near to Michigan as Ohio and Indiana. I sourced mine from Golden Hour Herb Farm

When you open a bottle you will notice it has a particular green, perhaps Asparagus-y, or old spinach flavor. Don't be alarmed that is exactly what she smells like, unfortunately not all herbs taste awesome (though many say the flavor grows on you).

Passionflower may help calm the mind and sooth the nerves. Especially indicated for ruminating and circular thinking. Some find it supportive for sleep. Some information suggests it may be beneficial to individuals with adhd. When i was at the Great Lakes Herb Faire I took class with the great Margi Flint, where she described Passionflowers benefit for supporting the whole endocrine system suggesting it also for hormone balance, pms, and perimenopausal sympyoms.

When you support your bodied stress response there area a cascade of benefits. Your immune system improves with the reduced cortisol. It may support your heart and blood pressure. Though herbs are incredibly supportive nothing replaces therapy, nature, excersize or good nutrition.

What does it feel like? When I take this herb i feel a calming sensation in the cerebral area of my brain. It brings a calm without clouding the mind. Sometimes I hold tension in my jaw and I notice that released. Almost like I put on a helmet of calm buffering myself to the world.

Here is a trusted website for herbal information: https://www.herbrally.com/monographs/passionflower

To support sleep it is suggested take 1 dropper about 1 hour before bedtime (note a dropper is one full squeeze, it often fills the glass dropper about halfway). Take another dropper when you are about to crawl in bed. If you are still struggling after about 30 minutes take another dropper.

Note that passionflower won't force your body to sleep but rather it will help prepare your mind to sleep.

Disclaimer- I am not a doctor. None of this is formation is intended to diagnose, treat or cure any diseases. Consult with a doctor or trained clinical herbalist especially of pregnant, nursing or on other medications.

Passionflower tincture is available through me $10 for 1oz dropper bottles

Both the Glycerine Extracts and the alcohol tincture is avaliable Gathered Botanicals

I get many messages or comments in regards to herbs and products saying something along the lines of "What's it good for?"
Though there are some general functions we can reduce plant medicine to, but they are much more dynamic than that. Herbal medicine is rich with story and nuance. There is so much to learn from each individual plant.

Though, yes, you can reduce Yarrow to a wound healer and woman's medicine it is also so much more. It's bitterness supports digestion and it moves and balances fluids. As Erika mentions it is also very associated with healers and offers balance and protection to the wounded healer archetype. I will continue to learn and take in the wisdom of herbs, there is no end to this learning.

I have Yarrow tincture made from the fresh homegrown plants picked at their peak in the heat of the summer.

You can purchase it through me $10 1oz

Or at Gathered Botanicals on College.

Brainstorming ways to make lunch box friendly immune support i am Testing out some Elderberry Fruit Leather. Each piece is equivalent to 1 tsp of Elderberry syrup. These may be available for purchase next season! What do you think?

Something is trying take over this morning.
Tickle in my throat, sneezing, I can just feel in in my bones and lungs.

I am reaching for my Echinacea tincture to support my immune system by stimulating my immune response. I will keep taking a dropper full every 30-40 minutes hoping to knock it back.

I personally find Echinacea more reliable that Elderberry syrup alone for keeping sickness away. I do not use Echinacea daily as a preventative. I only use it when I feel something coming on.

I take mine straight shooting the dropper towards my throat. But it can also be taken in a bit (4oz) of juice or water which tones down the tingly slightly numbing effect.

It has other uses too. I really love adding this to UTI protocol or as a part of an herbal mouth rinse especially where their might be infection.

This has been by far my most popular tincture because when used as suggested IT WORKS. People come back and tell me and I say... I know. It's amazing. I feel the same way every time it helps my body fight off something.

Echinacea tincture can be ordered through me or you can purchase from Gathered Botanicals
