For this week’s dharma talk in my yoga classes, I’m focusing on the work of the Mother of Mindfulness herself, Dr. Ellen Langer, and one idea in particular has stayed with me:

The opposite of mindfulness isn’t distraction—it’s certainty.

When we’re certain, we stop paying attention. We think we already know. We stop being curious. We stop noticing what’s new.

As Dr. Langer said, “When we think we know something, we stop paying attention to it.”

That landed deeply for me.

Whether it’s a relationship, a daily walk, our health, or even our understanding of ourselves, certainty can make life feel smaller. Curiosity opens it back up.

This is one of the practices we dive deeply into in my Aging Gracefully program—not just how to care for our bodies through movement, nourishment, and rest, but how to cultivate a mindset that keeps us engaged with life. Curious. Open. Awake to possibility.

As we age, it’s easy to believe we’ve seen it all. But perhaps graceful aging isn’t about having all the answers. Perhaps it’s about remaining willing to discover something new.

Today, I’m practicing curiosity. Looking for what’s new instead of assuming I already know.

What might change if you approached today with fresh eyes? 💛🌿✨

Mushrooms are one of nature’s most functional fungi, packed with compounds that support healthy aging.

Two of the most exciting are ergothioneine and spermidine.

✨ Ergothioneine is a unique antioxidant found in especially high amounts in mushrooms. It helps protect our cells from oxidative stress—the wear and tear that naturally accumulates with age. Some researchers even refer to it as a “longevity vitamin” because of its potential role in supporting healthy brain function, cardiovascular health, and cellular resilience. Mushrooms with the highest levels of this compound are porcini (shown in the bowl).

✨ Spermidine is a naturally occurring compound that supports autophagy, the body’s cellular housekeeping process. Think of autophagy as your cells’ ability to clean out damaged components and recycle what they no longer need. This process is directly related to excellent health in our golden years.

Together, these compounds may help support:
• Cellular health and repair
• Brain and cognitive function
• Healthy immune function
• Energy production
• Resilience against everyday stressors of aging

The beautiful thing about mushrooms is that they offer these benefits in a whole-food package alongside fiber, minerals, B vitamins, and a rich, savory flavor.

Whether you’re adding shiitakes to a stir-fry, enjoying lion’s mane in a soup, or roasting a tray of mixed mushrooms, you’re nourishing your body with compounds that support health from the inside out.

Aging gracefully isn’t about stopping time—it’s about giving our bodies the tools they need to thrive through every season of life. 🍄✨

For 35 years, my parents poured their hearts into their home. It was never just a house—it was a place of open doors, shared meals, celebrations, comfort, and unwavering generosity. They created a space where family, friends, and neighbors were always welcomed and cared for. Every room holds memories of their kindness, hard work, and love.

Among the treasures they passed along to me were the dishes that sat on their family table for years. Dishes that held holiday meals, celebratory toasts, and countless conversations. This week, I’ve been filling those same dishes with cold-pressed juices, vibrant salads, fresh fruit, nourishing soups, and foods made with care in my own kitchen.

Each meal feels like a small continuation of the love that they served for so many years.

The experience has reminded me that creating space can be a sacred act. My parents are letting go of a home filled with memories, and in doing so, they are making room for a new chapter. In much the same way, sometimes our bodies and minds benefit from creating a little space too—a chance to simplify, reset, and reconnect with what truly nourishes us.

That’s the intention behind my juice cleanse offerings. Not restriction, but renewal. Not deprivation, but an opportunity to gently clear away what no longer serves us and make room for fresh energy, clarity, and vitality.

If you’re feeling called to create a little more space in your own life this season, I’d love to support you. Reach out for your 3-day juice cleanse and join me in this practice of nourishment, gratitude, and renewal. 💚

My Little Medicine Jars 🧡

Once mason jars are packed with cold-pressed organic juice, I can't help but call them medicine jars.

One of my favorite blends for healthy aging is a simple combination of carrots, ginger, and fresh turmeric—three humble ingredients with some remarkable benefits.

🥕 Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A. This nutrient supports skin cell renewal, helps maintain healthy vision, and provides antioxidant protection against the oxidative stress that contributes to aging. Carotenoids have also been associated with a healthy, natural glow that starts from within.

🫚 Ginger contains powerful compounds called gingerols that help support healthy digestion and circulation. Good digestion means we're better able to absorb nutrients from the foods we eat, while healthy circulation helps deliver oxygen and nourishment throughout the body. Ginger's anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties may also help protect cells from age-related damage.

✨ Fresh turmeric contains curcumin, one of the most studied plant compounds in nutrition. Curcumin has been linked to supporting the body's healthy inflammatory response, protecting cells from oxidative stress, and promoting healthy brain, heart, and joint function as we age. It's one of nature's most celebrated ingredients for longevity and vitality.

Together, these three ingredients create a vibrant golden-orange juice loaded with phytonutrients that help support:
✔️ Healthy, radiant skin
✔️ Cellular protection from oxidative stress
✔️ A healthy inflammatory response
✔️ Immune system function
✔️ Brain and heart health
✔️ Energy and vitality as we age

Every day we have an opportunity to give our bodies more of the compounds that help protect, nourish, and support long-term health.

And that's why these mason jars will always be my little medicine jars. 🧡

This Mother’s Day, give yourself the gift that mothers so rarely ask for: restoration. 🌿✨

A juice cleanse isn’t about restriction — it’s about replenishment. It’s a chance to pause, nourish deeply, hydrate every cell, and reconnect with your body with love and intention.

Whether you’re a mother, honoring a mother, grieving a mother, or simply tending the mothering energy within yourself — you deserve care, softness, and healing too. 💛

Fresh juices flood the body with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and living enzymes that support energy, digestion, skin health, and renewal from the inside out.

Because the woman who gives so much to everyone else deserves to be nourished too.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all forms of motherhood — seen and unseen. 🌸🥕🍍
