My first pastel in the Endangered animals series. This beautiful animal with the wistful look is an Amur leopard and is on the critically endangered list with only about 84 individuals.
People usually think of leopards in the savannas of Africa but in the Russian Far East, a rare subspecies has adapted to life in the temperate forests that make up the northern-most part of the species’ range. Similar to other leopards, the Amur leopard can run at speeds of up to 37 miles per hour. This incredible animal has been reported to leap more than 19 feet horizontally and up to 10 feet vertically. This framed pastel drawing is for sale either as a single or will be part of a 4 drawing series which I am working on. 10% of all sales will be donated to The WWF.
