1 lb calamari rings and tentacles
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup cornmeal (for extra crunch)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
1 lemon, cut into wedges
For the Red Dipping Sauce:

½ cup marinara sauce or spicy tomato sauce
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:

Prepare the Calamari:

Rinse the calamari under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

Fry the Calamari:

Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
Remove the calamari from the buttermilk, allowing excess liquid to drip off.
Dredge the calamari in the flour mixture, coating evenly.
Fry in batches for about 2 minutes per batch, until golden brown and crispy.
Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Make the Dipping Sauce:

In a small bowl, mix marinara sauce, red pepper flakes (if using), lemon juice, and garlic powder. Stir well.
Serve:

Arrange the crispy calamari on a plate.
Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon wedges.
Serve with the red dipping sauce on the side.
