Five years ago today, Vanity was born. I’ve often been asked how I went about starting my business. And I have to admit that I didn’t really put much thought into it. 🙈 definitely not an over thinker here! 😂 I saw a beautiful brick building with a lease sign on. It went in the next day, signed a lease and paid six months in advance and said “guess I’m in business!”

I opened Vanity at the end of Covid. Hoping to offer people a little something different. Once I built it, you definitely came! Out of the gate, I gained an amazing clientele, many of which are still with me today!

2021 was a year of change and growth. Not only did my sweet grandmother die right after I signed this lease, but my husband and I also got married that year and bought a house here in Eagle Rock (literally a minute from my studio now!)

Luckily the years have settled down since. But my business never has. And I have you all to thank for that! I never thought that five years later I would be where I am now. I’ve tried many things and many structures with my business and have settled into a quiet solo practice, perfecting my services, surrounded by amazing people, both clients and colleagues as well! ( ). And I couldn’t be happier. You all make work a joy to come to. 😘

Today also marks one year in my new space! The timing is impeccable! I’ll admit, when I went into a salon suite, I felt maybe this is a downgrade. I’ve always had my own spaces and many square feet to myself. But I realize the exact opposite is true. It’s an upgrade to myself, my clients and the well-being of my business. I’ve created these spaces I’m very proud of and my client’s absolutely love. Minimizing the business allowed me to open my mind and focus on giving the best services as I can. And do it w love and gratitude.

And with that, I have a few changes and fun stuff coming up! Gifts, raffles, a website (!) new menu as well as a few more things… so Stay tuned! And be sure to book appts w me the first week of April! 😉

Aion is a workout space for the 40 and over crowd. I’ve been going for a few months and I absolutely love it. Great for all levels and all bodies! Small classes, no diet culture, no mirrors, just gentle encouragement and a lot of fun!
