Roses does a body good! 💪🌹

Now, I don’t have the scientific evidence to back this up, but I do know I’ve been under the weather more times this year than I was during the SIX years I spent living and working full-time on the rose farm! Sick as a dog over here….again! 🤒😂

And trust me, farm life was no walk in the park! But no matter how physically demanding the work was, there was something about getting my hands dirty, breathing in the fresh air, and being surrounded by nature every day that did wonders for my physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Funny how the work that exhausted my body somehow always managed to restore my soul 🌿 My fellow gardeners, tell me I’m not alone in this! Have y’all experienced the same thing?! 🙌💕

I could’ve sat back like every other well-deserving 8th-grade volleyball mom and enjoyed being celebrated. But my heart had other plans. 💕🌹

Traditionally, the younger varsity players and their parents come together to celebrate our graduating 8th graders. But as an 8th-grade mom myself, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to spread a little love, beauty, and joy to the families who have shared this journey with us.

These girls have grown up together—through victories, setbacks, laughter, tears, and countless memories. And somewhere along the way, we parents have grown together, too. 🥹

So I gathered roses from our garden and created these bouquets for the girls to gift to their parents.

Because behind every young athlete are moms and dads who show up, sacrifice, cheer, and love unconditionally. The girls may shine on the court, but their parents are the unsung MVPs behind it all. 🏐❤️

The flowers may fade, but the love and memories we’ve cultivated together will remain. 🌱💝

Well, the winds decided our hoop house needed an open-air concept 😂🌬️ The plastic covering didn’t survive last week’s storms, but thankfully, the roses are still putting on quite the show! 🌹

A little less greenhouse, a little more al fresco...at least until we get it fixed.

When life blows your roof off, call it French country chic and keep on blooming! 😉💐

Funeral flowers 🕊️🤍 Lovingly harvested from our little patch of rare garden roses, day by day, bloom by bloom, until we had just enough to fill these arrangements. Then off to Dallas they went, carrying all our love as we said our final farewell to a beloved friend. 🤍💐

First Fall flowers 🌱 Harvesting and sharing what little is blooming between my trial patch, personal garden, and the potted roses. 🌹 It takes me back to when we first established Life In Rose Farm - just a few hundred roses planted at the farm, and us harvesting every last bloom from that very first flush. Funny how something so simple can bring you right back.

These days, I find myself cherishing the little things more. We’ve lost dear family members and good friends far too soon - one after another 😭 and grief mixed with the monotony of everyday life can take its toll. Some days, even our faith feels tested.

But I’m reminded that we don’t have to come to Christ with everything figured out. He simply asks us to come as we are:

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 🕊️

So friends, if you’re feeling some kind of way lately - or life just feels a little heavy - I hope these roses bring you a bit of joy and comfort 💝

And something I’ve learned in my hardest seasons: when life begins to lose its meaning, give a little of yourself away. Share your flowers. Check on a friend. Serve someone. Do one small act of kindness. Somehow, being a blessing to someone else has a beautiful way of reminding us that there is still so much purpose in being here 🙏💐

So many of y’all had questions about the climbing roses we planted and the hardware we used, so here’s a little breakdown to get your DIY project going! 💐🙌

The trellis installation is definitely doable, BUT fair warning - it’s a bit time-consuming and labor-intensive, especially your first go-around. 😅 Once you get the hang of it, though, the end result is absolutely worth the effort!

A little early birthday celebrating for me and Shaw, doing all the things we love most 💕 So grateful and blessed for another year of life, love, and opportunities to serve and glorify God. 🙏
